not really

it's a fact that women have a biological speed limit with respect to children, which is a big deal. men didn't evolve to invest in women who can't have children, and women's hormones completely destroy their looks with age. this isn't an issue of maturity; it's biology

As long as you aren't completely ugly, personality in a guy matters a lot also. At least around SELA, that is the case. I can vouch for that one

sure, thats what they always tell men, "just be confident" - but it doesnt seem to work that way, under most demographics. NYC seems to be an outlier.

he isnt talking about ugly guys. you cant tell some mongloid looking guy to just go be confident and he will be fine.

im assuming he was talking about a guy that was average looking at minimum

I'm 31 (32 in March), and try to only date girls 23-30. For me to date a 31-32 year old, she would have to be an 7+ on the looks scale and a perfect 10 on the personality scale. No exceptions

Yup. This. I'm a babyfaced 37, and my latest were 23, 23, 20, 24, and 19. Currently pretty into the 24yr old, and her bewbs looking 19 probably plays a role there. She has no college degree because she was smart enough to not get a worthless one with the accompanying debt, and has her own esthetician business instead. I was dating a 34/35yr old last year who was a 9+ in all areas (and great genetics...parents were retired Army SF and a biology professor), 5'9", IQ 120+, made six figures as a programmer...but the age thing and associated desperation craziness queered the deal, even though she didn't actually look her age.

Hitting the wall and biological clocks are real phenomena.

and who understands he's not going to frick a 9 often and 7 regularly

it is literally impossible for the top 10% to have all the women, unless they're banging 4-5/night

does the top 10% dominate the top 1% of women? yes

Yeah you really cannot get around that. Yeah you can do all kinds of fertility treatments now to help you get pregnant, but you still cannot get away from the fact that the older you are when you give birth, the risks of birth defects skyrockets....esp after 40.

I know all about it, we sat down with a genetic counselor and she showed us all the charts with the data. The risk of downs skyrockets once you turn 40.

So if say a 37 year old guy is wanting a large family of children biologically related to him....he's not likely gonna want to date a woman his same age.

Of course women have a biological clock, and there will be a portion of them that will make that a higher priority when searching for a mate. But to take that fact, and make a blanket statement that women, as a gender, decrease in value?

Ridiculous.

You're completely discounting all of the women who have already had babies and want no more. Or, have passed the age of childbearing, and are looking for a mate, not a father to their kid. Do you know how many women there are like that? The entire female gender does not place having children as the only, or even primary factor, when trying to find love.

quote:

I don't want any more children. Am I suddenly no longer a man?

Ridiculous.

This is me. I am so apathetic to it because it's very inefficient.

Online dating made it a tad more efficient in finding interests...but it is ruined by the accessibility to thousands of women, dropping the importance of shared interests down a peg.

It's just easier to do what I do, and if someone comes along...it catches me off guard and I roll with it. That has been most of my experiences (3/4 ).

This is a strange position. Basically the guy is saying that women aren't living within their means.

There's one guy for every girl, but girls don't want the guys they can afford and they don't have enough "assets" to buy the guy they want, so they lease "the man" versus investing in a "boring guy" who is at their level. The shortage of the coveted guys they all want means that they'll start "overpaying" (FWB/anal/threesome) for the guy hoping that they secure him, but they all end up having nothing to show for it later, and then get more and more depressed as their "ability to earn" diminishes?

possibly, but they dominate by and large, and its been rooted in us for thousands of years

and who could forget the okcupid study which found that women only thought 20% of men were above average.

You're wrong, and either delusional or lying to yourself to support your narrative. Plain and simple.

If you're talking about...I dunno, value as a human being...then yeah, sure. Everybody values Grandma, if she's a sweetheart. It's pretty obvious we were talking about male/female relations and sexual market value, though.

"Normal, mature adult" males overwhelmingly value younger, hotter, less biologically desperate female partners. You can dislike it all you want, but that doesn't change the facts.

How many good looking men arent on OKcupid?

A ton because they dont need it. Dating sites arent a good indication of the entire dating pool

when talking about investing precious personal resources, yes

it sounds mean, but again, it's not me being mean (or any poster). it's biology (The cruel bitch)

when we talk about value we're not talking about value in terms of morality or religion. it's about value within the scheme of social interaction. age is a big deal, esp with women. their physical peak is like age 16-20 and it goes downhill pretty fast for most women after 25 or so.

quote:

You're completely discounting all of the women who have already had babies and want no more.

we're talking about the male POV and not female

quote:

Or, have passed the age of childbearing, and are looking for a mate, not a father to their kid.

if most men have the option of a virile 20-22 year old and a good looking for her age, and energetic 45 year old, who do you think biology makes us desire more?

quote:

I don't want any more children. Am I suddenly no longer a man?

no

but you (unless you're a HUGE outlier) still react (sexually) more strongly to young women who are able to reproduce

You're putting too much stock in the biological clock aspect. Younger girls are more fun, more active, have tighter/better bodies, are more fun in bed, usually enjoying life, and moving upward instead of being stagnant. They also don't come with the emotional and psychiological problems plaguing women once they hit 30 and are still single

Nice summary. Pretty much.

This phenomenon is in hyperdrive in Vegas. Girls here hit 21, start going to clubs, get treated like goddesses by thirsty tourists looking to blow money for a few years, and think they're special.

It's an amazing city to get laid in, but almost useless for anything more substantial. Almost any reasonably good-looking local gal has been ridden hard and put up wet by the club scene, and doesn't realize how warped her perception is.
