Dallas traffic help

Driving through Dallas today in the afternoon, heading to Colorado, coming from I-20 in Shreveport.
I can either choose to take 287 through Wichita Falls, or stay on I-20 and go through Abilene.
Both routes will get me to Santa Fe, the Abilene route being about 20 miles more.
Probably get to the east side of Dallas around 5:30. What would be the route that should take me the least amount of time to get through this city considering normal traffic? no tolls either.

Use Google maps and enter your time and it'll give you an idea

The route won't matter much. Check waze though. Any info you get here will just be general info. Waze will tell you specifically which route to take at that exact time based on current traffic and car wrecks, etc.

Maybe you should do that to OP since he asked the question.
Or are you trying to be the board's biggest retard?

Just use Waze like any other good red blooded American should.

So that's a yes.
It's cute that you upvote your own posts and downvote mine though.

I have no idea why anyone would plan a trip hitting DFW at 5 pm but here's what I got.
If you choose the Wichita Falls route get north as quick as possible. One possibility is taking the 80 split to 635 then 30 to George Bush, once you get on the bush going west it will be full throttle.
I'd get as far as possible west then turn north 75 and the North South Tollway will be packed at that time.
It's a terrible time to get anywhere in DFW

This is quite literally the only route he should take.

Good idea because he’ll be going against traffic up to/around the 75 split. Look into using the Express lane on 75.
Bad idea because he’ll have to stop at Buc-ee’s In Terrell AND Melissa.

If he said tolls
Take 635 Texpress to PGBT South to 820 Express to 287

287 is the way to go. And take George bush from I 20 as much as you can.

Where in Colorado are you heading?
5:30 in the afternoon yo are pretty much screwed however you go through Dallas. I would really think about going north on Hwy 69 at Tyler and catching 380 in Greenville then catch 287 in Decatur. They are not interstates but they will get you around Dallas better and not have to face the traffic.
I don't think that route would have any tolls. 380 may be a bit congested where it passes DNT but that should be about it.

Thank you to the non retards.
I know it’s not ideal timing. It’s a 20 hr trip. may try to eat an early dinner right as we get to the east of Dallas and give time for traffic to die down.

Came into Dallas from Wichita Falls last week on the way to LA. Waze took us straight through downtown to I-20 at 7:30pm, with stop-and-go for 20 minutes. We should have stayed on 635 to 80 over to Terrell to join I-20, like I did in the road atlas days before smartphones.
