I just moved to Dallas (Lakewood) from Chicago and I was absolutely floored to see how people here act. I had no idea this was damn near as liberal as Lincoln Park. Very disappointed in Texas so far.

Sorry man. I moved to Dallas after Katrina & it was a bastion of freedom. Since then it has become a liberal cesspool. It is sad to see & experience.

Dallas is just an extension of Austin. Texas will be blue within the next ten years. Liberalism is a disease and Texas is severally infected.

If you need something that bad from a business then wear a mask, if it’s that important wear a mask or go home. Personally, I don’t wear a mask but I don’t care if other people do. I thought the mask virtue signaling was old news but evidently I was wrong.

You do now in Dallas or you can't go in, as mandated by the local government.

Just went to dinner in Dallas at a nice place. Only the staff wore masks. We weren’t required to wear them. I’m good with that. Take that Clay Jenkins you bastard.

The only difference is the masks are delaying herd immunity. Hospitals aren’t overwhelmed so if someone gets seriously ill, there’s plenty of room for them in the hospital and ventilators available if needed.
We could have football this fall if people would wear masks between now and then...think about that....

Restaurants are exempt since you are eating, also businesses have a 5 day grace period from yesterday to implement.

We have our 1st DTA tennis matches this weekend - 2 on Saturday and 1 tomorrow at noon - and had to put on masks to enter the bathroom facilities. After playing 2 hours of singles in the heat, wearing masks are almost more of an immediate medical issue than any Covid risks.

It's not about a medical issue, it's about control. The mask bullshite is nothing more than progressives, and government types, wanting their authoritarianism obeyed.

Technically you are supposed to wear masks when not seated at your table.

The masks hold in droplets from those wearing them. When one is worn it is to protect others.....if most people do it, it is successful.
Why is this so hard to grasp?
I don't really have a problem wearing a mask into a business that mandates that I wear a mask. That's their right. If I don't like it I'll patronize another business.
But realistically, unless you're violently ill and sneezing/spewing all over the place, the mask is doing nothing even for "asymptomatic/pre-symptomatic" people. You're 99.9% not going to catch it from me mask or no mask if I'm not showing symptoms.
Realistically, 90+% of the virtue signalers preaching mask wearing are not wearing them properly, taking them on/off properly, washing/sanitizing them properly, etc, etc.
Get John Stossel or somebody to do a blind test of masks on the street and see how many of them are petri dishes of germs/viruses/bacteria.
If 100% of the mask wearers were following OR type mask protocols I'd listen, but they're not. Therefore forced wearing of masks in the real world is MAYBE 10% effective at best in preventing spread. If you have any inkling that you may have been exposed or are starting to feel symptoms, by all means mask up, please. Otherwise, IMHO it's not worth it. YMMV. Good luck.

Yeah I’m not wearing a mask so a bunch of overpaid athletes and their owners can lecture me before, during, and after every ball game about racism and societal ills. frick football. I hope it tanks, the league folds and every player has to sell drugs to make a living.
My man!

I disagree with a lot of the points in your rant but basically agree masks provide very little protection. But it's not a big deal to wear a mask into a business. It's about as much trouble as wearing a shirt and shoes. I had a meeting outside in Dallas with 5 construction contractors last Thursday and we all wore masks at the clients request and it was fine. Somehow wearing or not wearing a mask has become political.

That’s not true though.
You are contagious to others a good 48 hours before you even show symptoms.
I work up COVID exposures all day long as part of my job. Whenever we have someone (patient or staff member at the hospital) turn up positive we are looking back 48 hours from when they start having symptoms to see where they were at and who they interacted with.
If the person with COVID has been wearing a mask appropriately that whole time while interacting with others...and others also wore masks appropriately....there is no exposure unless say a staff member was in close contact with that patient performing care without other PPE on(gown, gloves, eye protection).
We have had staff get exposed to other staff because while they both wore a mask all day at work....they sat right next to the infected staff member (again before they ever had symptoms) in the lounge while both were eating(and obviously not wearing masks)

The important part is bolded. Well over 90% of the US has no training in how to properly handle or wear PPE, including myself. Additionally, they're reusing it. Most people aren't doing anything by wearing a mask.
If a business wants to mandate patrons wear a mask, fine by me. Most places around me do, so I wear one. When the government starts mandating it with penalty if I don't, thats another story.

Nurse, not sure why you are disagreeing with me. I specifically stated that if the general public was wearing their masks properly like you state your folks are I'd be onboard.
The undeniable fact is that the general public do not do it correctly. Therefore any mandatory mask order is basically eyewash pandering that is ineffective. If you know that it's ineffective, why the big fuss in trying to enforce it?

I will also disagree with you here. Even if I am in your 48 hour asymptomatic zone I am not going to crowd you, breathe on you, cough/spit on you, rub up on you or otherwise invade your space. Smarter and more well qualified persons than me have come forward to say that your chances of randomly being infected by walking past an infected person are very slight.

Scottsdale has made it a misdemeanor here if you repeatedly won’t comply with wearing a mask
Phoenix will fine you $250
The situation in AZ is getting worse by the day. Too many idiots out there acting like overgrown toddlers thinking wearing a mask means they support a specific political party. Whining how they can’t tolerate a damn mask for an hour when numerous people have been wearing them every day for hours and have been fine.
No you aren’t gonna get infected with your own bacteria for wearing a mask
No you aren’t gonna rebreathe too much carbon dioxide by wearing a mask
Just give up the pathetic lame excuses that make you look like ignorant whining fools
I don’t enjoy wearing the mask either. But I also don’t want businesses to have to shut down again.
It’s getting really bad at my work. We probably average a COVID death a day now. And the number of COVID patients admitted at my hospital has tripled from what I saw less than a month ago.
