I don’t, but my mortgage is right at $1000. I couldn’t find many apartments for this price.

If you have enough equity. I would sell the home, get a small piece of land and put one of those bigger tiny homes/trailer/container homes. Just Enough to where I wouldn’t have a mortgage

Welcome to the party, pal

Just make it through each day the best you can.

That's all any of us can do.

Texas law is unkind

Sometimes. I was able to get 50/50 custody with no child support on 3 kids. I made it clear to her at the onset that I would bankrupt us both in lawyer fees before accepting anything less. She knew I wasn't kidding.

I work extra jobs which doesn't leave much time for hobbies or dating.

If you were kidless, I'd suggest living in some kind of 5th wheel camper and working in the national parks when school is out.

It's brutal. The first couple of years I pieced it together. Moved into an small apartment. It amazed me how little I could live on and be happy.

Met a new girl, (not crazy) made a blended family, and all of a sudden her ex is paying CS which countered my CS and we had two incomes for one household. (In addition to both of us getting promoted at work multiple times) Fast forward 12 years later and life is pretty awesome.

I will always appreciate those years in the apartment though. It wasn't big enough for the kids and myself, but we had a lot of fun.

How old is your kid? Also how much custody did you get?

Who says slavery doesn't exist anymore in America? I believe in paying for your kids, but unfortunately most states view it as punitive and instead of alimony they just lump it all in as child support. No way a kid costs $1000 a month to feed and clothe. Especially when you're taking care of them some of the time. I don't know what to do to fix it because I endured until my kids turned 18.

For all the feminism talk, there isn't much regarding fairness in the courts.

I’m going to have to think outside the box. Paying a mortgage by myself and forking over 20% of my net leaves me with little wiggle room.

Ask for a raise or find a way to get a promotion is the easiest step as opposed to finding a new job.

You won’t & shouldn’t make the same $ forever. Income should go up
