Cybertruck off-roading

Anyone care to chime in and grade this off-roading beast?

It weighs like 7k pounds. I don’t expect it to be some off-road machine. But it is a paved beast

Those tires are made to channel rain out. A good set of shoes would help it roll through dry sand more efficiently.

Kindof looks like it is fighting some traction control setting.

The electric drivetrain should give some advantages offroad, but there are 1000 different elements that can cause issues. Including what type of suspension they chose to go with.

Offroad, light is might.

7k ain't light.

It's technological advances don't make up for that.

I would think the electric drivetrain would be terrible for off-roading unless you had some type of built in control settings that you can gear everything down seriously. I would think it would put too much power to the tires too fast.

Any "DUDE" who buys one of those will never get if off road, that's a "look at me" vehicle.

All your torque is immediate. That is a beautiful thing when climbing.

Assuming you have the right locking ability and traction.

Saw my first one in Lakeland last Sunday. Didn’t think Polk County would be where that happened.

A ton of testing and PR going on leading up to the event November 30th. I wouldn't take this off reading due to weight and possibly height. Taking a trail to go camping, sure. Going somewhere where I need lift and squishy tires, not so much.

An EV could be an offroading beast (outside of range issues) if it is designed for it. Well outside the box you could have controls do instantly manually adjust torque to all four wheels. Something like finger and thumb controls on the steering wheel with each one controlling each corner, though there could be some issues controlling it. Maybe two roller switches on each side of the wheel that could be controlled with your thumbs like volume controls for the sound system. You could also have every highly sophisticated software that could vector the torque for you.

4 corner instantaneous torque vectoring is one of the really interesting on and off-road performance advantages of EVs.

The only thing I like about that thing is the bulletproof part...

I think all four wheels have independent motors. So when you'd normally lock your rear differential and transfer torque to an individual wheel, this thing relies on a computer to tell it that I guess? And that torque would be limited to the capacity of each wheel's motor.

What percentage of sports cars ever make it to a racetrack?
