Internet shopping killed retail customer service
Entitlement. Consumers are idiots and not nearly as knowledgeable as they believe. Throw in the theft, and open door retail is in its final chapter.

Service quality in general stems from society's mindset and priorities.
Drugs, porn, games, and social media has taken over every aspect of our lives and created slaves to dopamine.
Who wants to strive for a better job, education, family, success, etc. when you can sit at home, get high and play video games and wack off all day.
Long term success gives way to short term pleasures.

Forget that bullshite. We don't care about demanding anything better for us, in general, we have tranny shite to focus on.

People are assholes. So you have that to train out of them.

I just got back from Las Vegas, and one of the Flight Attendants didn't show up, causing a major delay.

You don’t want to live because you can’t get good customer service? Damn drastic much?
It really depends on where you are at what what type of business it is. This exact reason is why CFA is so popular. You get the same customer service no matter which location you go to. Totally different for other chains.

It probably doesn't apply in the era of streaming but I used to say you could win a Presidential election simply by running a single issue platform of taking over the cable companies and running them with better infrastructure, customer service and an ala carte menu.
That's it - no foreign policy chess games, no complicated tax reforms, no weighty discussions of personal issues. Just a simple, we're going to march into Comcast, ATT, etc. like McCarthur returning to the Phillipines and your life of Cable TV will be infinitely better from now on.

Not to sound insensitive to those that really suffered during Covid and the corresponding lock downs (physically, emotionally or financially) but the death of customer service and lowering of the general public’s expectations around customer service is the Covid effect that I feel the most in my daily life.

That has been the case for decades

It sucks, but the market usually works it out over the long-term.

Silver lining is we go out to shop and eat way less because of post covid customer service shite show so saving lots of money.

customer service reps: they hate their job and they hate you.

The old yankee snowbirds down here don't help. They are the epitome of "Get off my lawn". Miserable people. As a former server, I am extra kind and very generous, because they are going through hell. Publix is a different experience. Everyone is so friendly and willing to help. A remarkedly different experience from Baton Rouge grocery stores.

Either short staffed or staffed with idiots seems to be the new and permanent business model
Short staffed, staffed with idiots, or staffed with English as Second Language folks.
Thinking about offering a service that relays calls to support thru a translator.
I got a callback from the Passport office last week and about fell out of my chair when it was a clear English speaking, older white woman on the phone, and she handled my issue with ease.

I stayed at a Renaissance hotel over the weekend. I consider that to be 3.5 stars.
Not once during my three day stay did they clean the room. When I called they said the hotel is sold out and they are short staffed and need to turn over rooms instead. No accountability on hiring people for a competitive wage to make sure there is proper staff at all times.
They told me this two days in a row. I called for towels that were never delivered on the 2nd day.
Dialing room service was a conquest. No one would answer the phone and when I finally got in touch with the front desk they would say they don’t know why no one is answering. On my last day the guy put me on hold for fifteen minutes to see what the deal was but never came back on the phone. I gave up.
No bellman and they only had 1 cart for a 100+ room hotel.
I also stayed at a five star hotel in Austin recently. Run by liberals, they had the worst service I ever experienced. Waitstaff did not give a shite and reacted as if every request was a burden. Maybe it was because they hated my family’s classic style of dress which exudes being a Republican?
Housekeeping was horrible and you had to request an iron and ironing board, at a five star hotel. Water was delivered at room temp.
