Crossing guard killed near Denham Springs elementary school( DWI , Vehicular homicide )

A crossing guard has died in an incident near Gray’s Creek Elementary, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.
LPSO said first responders are currently on scene.
Details about how the fatality occurred have not yet been released.
Drivers are urged to use caution and expect delays as crews continue working the scene. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Just terrible. Prayers sent

Crossing Guard hall of fame. She was crossing guard when I was spitting game in 1991.

I’ve go through that area at least a few times a week during crossing guard times. Every now and then you’ll get some dumb arse that is on their phone. Just completely hauling arse down that road and doesn’t even check up. This is awful. Whatever fricking moron hit this poor lady needs to serve a long time in jail.

Crossing LA16?
Just looking at it from a map app to have an elementary school there at LA16 & LA1033 even with a crossing guard they need some sidewalks and a light or 4 way stop at LA16 & LA1033/garney hood.

I pulled up to the scene right after it happened. Terrible all the way around. I had just waved to her earlier in the afternoon on the way home from PT at her first evening gig near the school at Juban.

She was crossing guard when my kids were at elementary school they've graduated college now- if im not mistaken, she was still doing the job because she has a handicapped daughter that she cares for.

All I know is I've lived in DS since 2004, and she's been a fixture on this stretch as long as I've been here.
So very sad.
Apparently the guy that hit her was arrested for DWI. Driving through an active school zone drunk {or at all tbh}...what a terrible decision.

Is this the elderly lady who is very demonstrative in doing her job?
If so, I passed that way many mornings and laughed at the way she would shake her head at drivers not doing exactly what they were supposed to.

According to the news, the driver was identified as Darren Goudeau, 64.
