What do you crossfitters say about the WODs the spartan race people put out in their email blasts:
Carrying a sandbag (or other weight) is a critical component of obstacle course racing. For this workout you can use a sandbag, a medicine ball, or even just a heavy rock. The important thing is to integrate the weight into your movements. Warm up first and then do each exercise for 30 seconds.
Warm-up:
Run/walk 400m with weight
Main Set:
Deadlift (with bag)
Decline pushups
Axe chops (each side with bag)
Squat (with bag)
Clean (with bag)
Overhead press (with bag)
Side plank (each side)
V-up
Rest one minute
Supersets of Main Set:
Sprint Level – x 3
Super Level – x 4
Beast Level – x 5
Cool down with a walk and good stretch.

It isn't a bad workout and will get your heart rate going. Lot of crossfit people like the competition and results oriented style of crossfit but focus of crossfit is "functional movement." This incorporates a lot of functional movement and gets your heart rate going. I like it

I only got a score of 72. Walked into my box never being able to do a DU, I finished with 57. It's not a record breaking score but I was happy. I figured it would turn into a 10 min DU practice for me.

Rich Froning is gonna win.......all others need not apply.

I will do it tomorrow. I have never been able to do DU, but could do single double....for some goddamn reason, I have lost that ability.
,
I should be unbroken on all my lifts, just dont even know if I will get thru three rounds with my shitty jumps. Oh well.
I really am getting discouraged at my inability to DU, it is getting mental now...I look like an absolute goof trying them once I get tired nowadays.

For those of you who don't have your double-unders, two things:
1. Make sure you are using one of the thin wire ropes. You would be stunned how much of a difference it makes. You gotta be a damn beast to do double unders on your standard thick rope, they're so damn heavy. I'd bey 60% of people who Crossfit regularly who don't have double-unders and use a regular rope could get them the first day they switched.
2. If you're still struggling, focus on your glutes when you're jumping. Everyone focuses so much on their calves, but your power really comes from your butt. There's a reason they tell you to lean back in all your cleans, push-jerks, deadlifts, etc. That's where your power is.
Good luck to all, I'm gonna try tonight or tomorrow. Will post results.

Glad this thread is up, tried making this one a few days ago but old south ruined it in about 20 minutes. Got 260 on Friday and 270 today. Going unbroken on the DU's are the key to this one.
Did you guys do snatches the whole time or did y'all switch to clean and jerks when you got tired? And why didn't they call it ground to overhead instead is snatches since they are allowed?

I snatched the entire thing. I found myself inching my hands in to save my shoulders from ripping out of socket. Lol. Doubles got me. Shins are pretty sore today. Going to give it one more shot tomorrow. Goal is 6 rds/270. If I can get just a little help on doubles I think I can get it.

With that low of weight I have a hard time believing clean/jerk would be more efficient. Two movements over one just seems like a waste of time. Take a couple seconds rest and then go back into snatches.
It is a weird terminology, though. I haven't watched the video, are you sure they allow clean-jerks? They're usually strict as frick about stuff like that and figured they'd kick ya out if they weren't snatches.
