Would bet most of you naysayers couldn't keep up or even train with my sons middle school xc team. fricking dumb. In high school we trained with xc to get in shape and be competitive in our respective sports. XC is the basis for all sports and the MEffing Olympics. And frick me for being lured into stupid fricking troll bait but this was just plain fricking asinine. God bless America, L7 for heisman, piss in the proper port a potty for yourself, rally possum, beer is good bourbon is better, eat drink and be merry.

I ran XC and earned a partial scholarship to an SEC school and several larger offers from smaller D1 schools. Something those superior athletes were not able to do.
I would also guess that the vast majority of high school XC runners probably didn't peak in life during their high school years like a lot of their superior athletic counterparts playing real sports.

I was thinking about that the other day after watching a documentary on the subject. So were 90% of the top cyclists in the world at the time, and he still beat their asses. I think it was more his arrogance about it and the way he destroyed others' lives and businesses to keep the secret that were the real crime there.

The only thing that seems ridiculous is when there's some yahoo quoting a study that reveals that soccer players run anywhere from seven to nine miles during a 90-minute game.
Usually that would be touting it over baseball or football when a soccer player would run circles around those guys. Actually some soccer players were the better football players. Hell LSU signed a guy that was damn good at soccer but will play wr.
But diff body types are better for diff sports.

Agree.
The thing that people miss about Lance is, had he not won, the next 50 guys behind him were all cheating too. So the playing field was level. He wasn't getting an edge on his competition by doping, he was maintaining the status quo baseline. He legitimately was the best.
The problem with Lance is that he is a titanic a-hole, really sort of an antisocial personality, and he used people up and spit them out and outright destroyed people's lives, willingly, eyes wide open, to advance himself and protect himself. He's sort of like Ayn Rand's dream guy. Which to normal people makes him a bad person.

You could, but most people aren't questioning the athleticism of football, basketball, or baseball participants. At least, no one of sound mind.
Are you talking about high school? High school football players, on average, aren't very athletic. There a handful of really good athletes in FB and then a lot of heavy kids on the line and a bunch of backups with limited athletic ability.
Basketball and baseball are a little different because of the smaller team sizes and the ability to cut the non-athletic kids.

Any of you know a superior athlete who ran cross country over another regular sport (or as a supplement to another sport maybe)..?
One of my younger brothers. Ran CC and played soccer. Also just graduated from SQT.

They don't run 5k at highland, it's 3 miles. Only 5 guys have ever run under 15 there. None of them swam. You're a liar.
Whatever you say there chief.

Just admit you were lying or mistaken about your time. Your initials are ER and you are nowhere to be found on this list of the best times run at Highland. LINK

My son is a great athlete. He runs cross country, pole vaults, plays soccer, baseball and tennis. He lettered in 4 sports as a sophomore. Cross country is extremely difficult at the higher levels. Some kids are not athletic, but they dont make the top 7 who compete at state I promise you. Also keeps the boys in incredible shape for other sports if they do not play football. At our school, many of the baseball pitchers run cross country in the fall.

I ran XC and Track in highschool.. Was an All-State runner in both sports all 4 years in high school. People don't respect it, but it's a lot harder than it looks and takes a lot more training than you think. I bet 99% of the people that post on this board couldnt run a sub 5 minute mile even if they trained for years.
Also, all the guys on my team were smart as shite and all of us got academic scholarships and are successful today. Can't say the same about all the other athletes

A guy on one of my teams in HS is on there, and we had two guys that were faster than him. One had some problems in high school, so he didn't show up a lot of times, and the other was hit or miss. All of them went on to set multiple top 10 records for their schools in college. I didn't particularly like running at Highland
I found that XC was more mental than physical

I always liked the one on the lakefront that I think Holy Cross put on, and for some retarded reason, I liked Sumner

That hill right after the mile mark at highland sucked dick. It was uneven footing and everyone was still pretty much together.
