Yep. Caring for my aging parents and being there to make sure my grandparents don’t die alone and uncared for is a pretty major reason I live here. I plan to beg my children to move when they get to college. I’ll care for their grandparents and then move closer to them as soon as they’re dead to help with my own grandkids

Yes. Mandeville, Covington, River Ranch, and Youngsville are probably the only four suburbs in LA that are safe to live in and are away from the crime.

You should stop posting about shite you know nothing about. Crime is everywhere. There are some shitty spots to live in TX too. There are also plenty of safe suburb areas in LA.

I guess people thought they were immune to drive by shootings living in LV.

It can happen anywhere these days.

A lot of people unfortunately are waiting for their older people to die so that they can move. My friend left their 90 something year old grandparents bc they “refuse to die”.

In the meantime, our kids are planting roots when us parents just want to start fresh. Dreaming of cul de sacs with nerdy families who want to sit in lawn chairs and drink beers while we watch our kids ride bikes. On smooth sidewalks!

Yeah I know Texas is getting overrun with illegals who are trying to destroy it. But that won’t last for long once Trump gets in office and finishes the wall

Is the Memphis Scorpion Unit for hire? We need some aggressive law enforcement down here.

Delusions of the highest order, unfortunately.

FDL and Veterans definitely is Lakeview

that neighborhood map posted goes into too much detail for lots of people. there are some everyone knows like Uptown, Gentilly, the Irish Channel, Garden District, Warehouse District, Lakeview, Bywater, the Lower 9th ward, etc. and then there are some you have to dig deep to know like Black Pearl, Touro, basically sub-neighborhoods

like everybody can't have their own neighborhood and expect us to know where you're referring to.

These are the planning districts/neighborhoods that pre-date the internet or any real estate agents.

Everyone does have their own neighborhood

Used to be a sign at Hammond Hwy and FDL showing West Lakeview, but that intersection is sort of in no man’s land between West Lakeview and Lakewood, just a wizzing stray bullet away from the State Police Troop B station.

Maybe 20 or 30 years ago.
Troop B relocated to I-10 and Williams Blvd many moons ago.

Sounds about right, I’m recalling growing up there in the seventies.

I've never heard of Dixon. I'm trying to figure out what that even encompasses.

The boundaries are the I-10 service road from Metairie Rd. to the Carrollton Ave. exit, Airline Dr., Palmetto St. and Metairie Rd. The New Orleans Country Club is within the Dixon neighborhood. Homes in the blocks just adjacent to the country club list as being in “Lakewood South” when they come up for sale, a realtor’s trick to disguise that the ‘hood is just around the corner. Super convenient neighborhood, which is slowly gentrifying. (Used to work for someone who lived there.)
