Crazy DoorDash experience last night

I use the service frequently when I travel for work. Last night I ordered food to be delivered to my hotel room. I left a generous tip as usual, when my order gets picked up I receive a message from the driver stating “ I am a single mother of two, would you please raise my tip to 15 dollars”. I didn’t respond, my instructions were to leave order at my room door, I get a message from her saying “ Can you come out here”. I responded with “No I’m just getting out of the shower”. This biatch not only didn’t leave outside my room door, she left it outside the door of the hotel. I was friggin hot! Should’ve sent her a message back saying “times are tough right now..I need to get that tip back”

Yeah I’d report. Usually those companies are good about refunds. I had a woman one time deliver my Uber eats and as she was driving off she yelled to me “don’t forget to tip!!”. I didn’t tip and wrote to her that’s not how you go about getting a tip. I would’ve tipped her really well (like I always do).

I used doordash for 3 years while in school and still use it for supplemental income.
Report her. She's taking money away from me by making a bad name for the drivers. This is on her as well as doordash for not having a more stringent delivery driver screening process.
It doesn't take much to get in the car by yourself and promptly deliver food to another person.
Sorry, OP. There are some of us out there who try to treat the food like it's our own, but I'm sorry to say that when I run into others doing pick ups they are much more like the person you described.

its pretty crazy when you think about it.
waiters want 20% tip to walk your food normally about 25 feet.
doordash brings your food miles from a restaurant to your location with much more headaches and tipping just feels so dirty.

I doordash and I never ask for a tip. If it's not worth the trip, I decline the order. I treat everybody's order as if it were my own food, the tips work themselves out.

it probably is. but the whole point of ordering take out imo is to avoid all the bullshite tips. I'm used to like pizza delivery guy tipping. Throwing $5 out there on top of their delivery fee.
