Went to school all my life with James Magee, and we never said a word to each other:
"On April 18, 2007, James C. Magee shot and killed his wife Adrienne and their five-year-old son, Zack. He also injured his two daughters, nine-year-old S.M. and eight-year-old L.M. At the time of the shootings, James and Adrienne, who wed in 1998, had been married for approximately eight years."

Just walked up to her car, blew her face off in front of his kids, shot one kid that was in the back seat, and gunned the other one down while he was running away from the car. He was also one of the inmates that sued Angola for lack of AC in death row.

ETA: he told a co-worker he was going to kill her the day before. Not sure how the co-worker responded, but I'd be riddled with guilt.

Not me, but my wife testified in a murder trial of a girl who was convicted of stabbing her mom 50+ times when they were in high school. My wife had been with her earlier in the night. It was a pretty big story on 60 Minutes, etc. She ended up getting out of prison after 4-5 years because of prosecutorial misconduct

We were at 2 a day football practice my Sophomore year of High School. The Cops showed up and arrested 2 of the Senior players.

It turned out they were breaking into peoples houses with another Senior player. The Cops found out about the break-ins and talked the other guy into turning on the 2 and getting audio recordings of what was going on. The 2 figured out the other guy was in with the Cops, took him out in the woods and killed him.

Ooh, I got a good one: 1 of my Chefs from culinary school was murdered by his wife. She was a romance novelist who, no shite, once wrote an essay called, “How to Murder Your Husband.” Just got convicted, ironically enough, crazy rabbit hole.

CBS News story on the conviction

I wasn't close to him, but I did know (Baton Rouge attorney) Stephen J. Holliday before all that chaos in his life erupted in May 2001.

LADB proceedings from 2009

Kind of surprised to see he has been reinstated to the practice of law. Regardless, good for him.

A guy I knew back in the day is in prison for murder.

He was the boyfriend of my girlfriend at the time's best friend. I wouldn't go so far as to call him a buddy, but I knew him well enough that we'd stop and chat if we happened to run into each other. He didn't have a car, so he'd occasionally call me for a ride somewhere. If I wasn't busy, I'd usually drive him wherever he wanted to go.

Anyway, one afternoon he calls me and says "Hey man I need a ride to a pawn shop on the westbank."

Something in his voice - whether it was the tone, or how he phrased his request - made me very uneasy.

"Sorry, I'm busy. Wish I could help."

He told me it wasn't a problem, then hung up.

An hour or so later he called me again with the same request. He sounded a little frantic.

"Look," I said. "I can't help you. I'm busy."

A few days later he was arrested for murder. He was calling me to drive him to the pawn shop to sell the items he had stolen from the victim's house.

Kind of fricked up that I was almost involved in this. Even more fricked up that I was acquaintances with a guy who was capable of such a thing.

Guy who had been a classmate of my brother. Was having an affair and strung out on cocaine. He tried to end the affair and she threatened to tell his wife. He beat her unconscious and thought she was dead. He was going to take her somewhere and dump the body, she woke up and jumped out of his truck. He went home and shot himself in his bathroom.

This was a seemingly normal guy from an absolutely stellar family. Completely out of character. The drugs fricked him up.

Podnah I played basketball with in HS shot his best friend over an argument they had during a softball game. Convicted and did time in Angola. Later got a work release gig at the Governor's Mansion cooking for EWE. Caused a stink when the victims mom found out and he got bounced back to the farm. Quiet kid when I knew him. The guy he shot was a bully and an a-hole. Apparently pushed one too many of his buttons. Walked into his house, grabbed a 12 gauge and blew him away. Other guy didn't think he'd do it. he found out.

Worked with this cat named Don in the mid 2000's on a construction site in Central Texas. Two years later Don is on the First 48 as a murder victim. He tried to break up a robbery outside of a bar in Dallas and got shot by an 18 year old

I also know this guy pretty well. He blew away a California State trooper with a shotgun. Got out after 12 years.

I went to a small-ish HS, so all the Honors/top 10% kids all took Pre-AP and honors classes together, so we knew each other pretty well and what was going on in each other's lives.

This one girl who was always really sweet started to become bitchy and keeping to herself. Before, she laughed and joked around with us, but over the course of the first semester of our junior year, she turned into someone none of us recognized.

We learned she was dating this older guy and was experimenting with drugs, alcohol and sleeping with the guy. Eventually, her parents forbade her from seeing him and started monitoring everything she did.

Over Christmas break, I heard about a girl from my HS who killed her parents and was caught with her boyfriend trying to burn their bodies in a barrel. The name wasn't released because she was a minor, but the rumors were it was the girl who I had known for years and shared so many classes with. When we all came back to school and she didn't, it was confirmed.

I met this dude through a friend of mine years ago, maybe 20 years or so. He used to joke and say “if they’re old enough to bleed, they’re old enough to breed.” He’s serving a long sentence now.

pretty prime killing fields area.

There isn't an exact location just a stretch of swampy at the time undeveloped land between Houston and Galveston/texas city. Lot of problems were buried out there.
