Mine is pretty crazy.
So I got an interview for an engineering job designing cranes.
The owner was a friend of my boss at what was my current job. He was very strange to say the least. He wanted to make the interview a deep sea fishing trip with just him driving his boat, and me. So I agreed because I love to fish.
I showed up to his house and he was waiting in his truck. When I got in and he said, you want the job? I said yes of course, and he said good, let's go fishing.
Once we were out on the water in the gulf, he starts drinking, while he's driving. We tried to fish and nothing was hitting. We were dragging lines and he wanted me to drive the boat. He then started yelling at me that I wasn't driving straight. So I let him take back over.
It's dark now and he's getting drunk so I decide to go down under the deck to lay down. I start falling asleep and all of a sudden a huge thud. I look up and he's passed out at the wheel and we are stuck under a rig bouncing off the posts. I yelled at him to get the Fu** up, I was so pissed, and a little scared. He got up and got us out of that mess. But he was so drunk that he passed out again and left me alone all night on this boat. It was pitch dark and I had no idea where I was.
All I could do was sit there and listen to the radio and all the ships communicating.
He was laying on an ice chest right nest to the edge of the boat. If he flipped over he would have fell out the boat. He was about 300lbs so there was no way I was saving him.
Once he woke up, I told him what happened, because he didn't remember, and he started cracking up saying that's a classic!. I was fuming and ready to get out of there.
What does he want to do? Go get more beer and go back fishing.
We caught nothing again all day and I finally convinced him to go home.
I was so desperate for a job, I took this one anyway, after all that. In 3 months, him and the other owner decide to close the business and go work for one of our customers, a week before Christmas, leaving about 20 people without jobs.
Thankfully I've had one interview since and have been at that job for 20 years now.

Stryker was my strangest interview by far. Interviewed with them twice. Never got the offer. I guess I'm a loser.

Just because he's a baw, 300lbs, alcoholic, and owns a fishing boat you assume he posts here?

Wait...don't answer that.

That one is pretty good. I thought the plot twist was going to be your boss was faking it to see if you would let him drive intoxicated to assess your risk tolerance in an industry that has many potential hazards.

Valero, No Hope, 2005/2006. Interview for a direct civil/structural design position.

Guy told me he needed to give me an Autocad test, to draw a platform. He took me to a workstation, gave me a sketch of a simple platform, and I went to work. 30-45 minutes later, I handed him a drawing of his platform, plan & section, fully dimensioned and noted. He said thank you, we’ll call you.

Never heard from him again. I figured later that he must’ve needed a platform drawn and didn’t want to pay for it.

Bridgewater Associates. Had to sign an NDA. Needless to say it was bonkers and I was happy I didn’t get the job.

Be willing to bet that most of the ones involving that a-hole, Harvey Weinstein, would be the stuff of short stories that would sell.
