I don't understand how pickup trucks aren't "professional". There are lots of very nice Ford and Chevy pickups being driven by all manner of professionals.

Nope but have dealt with both groups quite a bit. The young engineers coming out today don't bother learning the plant and how it operates, all they do is network and look for the next move up. In the old days the engineers in a plant knew how it worked and could troubleshoot, they tended to stay in their plants for a good while. In today's world they all just want to be a boss.

I can drive anything I want. I drive a Ford F-150. I haven't seen a BMW or Mercedes that I would rather drive. I like riding high, and I don't live or work in an area with limited parking. I kill things that are bloody and play in the mud.

I'm a professional who doesn't seek/need the approval of others. Your friend bragging about getting laid is really all we need to know about him. He likes to think of himself as a big shot. He probably lives in a house that is much bigger than his family needs. He judges people on what they drive (and probably on what they wear). He is the definition of a douche bag.

Hmmm. I guess he has not seen the Ford F-150 King ranches that all the big baws drive down here. They cost more than those entry level pussy arse benzs and bmws.

So you're bragging about buying a Ford that costs more than a Mercedes?

there's nothing special about entry level German luxury cars... other than possibly giving people a false impression about you.

I do so much winning in my F-150 in my underwear before morning coffee it's incomprehensible.

Your reading comprehension sucks. Where did I say I owned such a truck?

The car one drives is usually a function of hobbies or other interest they may have. Many "professionals" I know, MD's, attorneys, business owners (myself included), drive pick up trucks daily. In this part of the country hunting and fishing is a huge part of life. From my small sample pool of friends and acquaintances who daily drive sedans they are the type who couldn't change a flat tire and cringe at the sight of blood.

You realize, of course, you just nailed the "OT Baller" ideal, right?

When I graduated 8 years ago I bought a bmw. Drove it for 4 years then got a Toyota Tacoma. Wouldn't trade it for any other vehicle. Although I am an engineer and not sure if I am considered a professional from the other thread

You know what I think is professional? A man who cares for his family. I drove a van for 8 years until the oldest kid was old enough to drive

I will be a "professional" in the construction industry. If I pulled up to a job site in a car, I'd be laughed off the site.
