I mean hospitalizations are back up and that was the whole point of flattening the curve. If the hospitals get overwhelmed then it makes sense to add more restrictions.

I have developed a plan for reopening I’d like to submit to our government, the WHO, and the Covid Taskforce. I just can’t think of a good name for it. Maybe an acronym or something.

They’re down from the high of 21xx on April 13 by more than 700.
We’re not out of space especially as that doesn’t take into account surge capacity.
Just stop.

Edwards said he is "not of a mindset" to add new restrictions so soon after his latest order, even after receiving the report the next day.
lol we’ve heard this lawyer speak bullshite before. It’s only a matter of when, not if, JBE enacts further restrictions and then places blame directly on federal guidance.

The problem is, The South should have killed more people at the start of this like New York did.
Seriously though, looks like the lock down came too early out of reactionary fear. Wasn’t thought thru enough. Most of the southern states (other than Louisiana) probably shouldn’t have locked down when they did.

The issue is he locked down the whole state when nola was in their first wave. Other areas of the state are really just now experiencing their big first wave. But no jackass bel Edwards didn’t want to take a regional or parish by parish approach to the shutdown.

They need to be punched in the mouth and then pour diesel on them and watch them burn

100 percent correct

0.1%
Testing more.
So assume catching 1 in 5.
That's 0.5%
Assume most of these states at 10-15% infected already.
Herd immunity likely at 30% or so.
At that rate would need 30-40 2 week cycles of infections to hit herd immunity.
That's insane.
This shite cannot go on for a year.

It says it was a report "prepared for" the task force. I'm not reading that as the task force recommending anything.

Not sure about the numbers but spoke to my sister who is an icu nurse at Lafayette General. She said that their ICU is full with Covid patients and they’ve already begun using other beds not typically used for icu to treat Covid patients. They are dangerously low on ventilators and a hospital in Lake Charles is currently out of ventilators. A hospital in Corpus Christi called them today begging them to take Covid patients because they are overwhelmed but unfortunately Lafayette General is full. But you’re right, she’s probably exaggerating. Nothing to worry about.
I don’t think we should shut down again but to say we shouldn’t hold off on opening everything back up is naive as well.

No shot the administration let’s that report turn into a recommendation, it would blow up the every go back to school plan.

So send them to BR or NOLA. There is space.
