I wonder if the real problem is the "no knock" warrant or the likely horrible outcome if the police go to the wrong house, or if the warrant is obtained improperly.
an improperly-obtained warrant got those houston cops charged
bootlickers defended those pieces of shite the same way even after it became clear they were lying

I suspect the real problem is that some judges sign off on anything dropped on their desk.
this and cops being...colorful with the truth in their affidavits, is a real problem
if they were not 100% truthful in that affidavit, this should be felony murder. open and closed.

1. END NO KNOCK RAIDS. 2. End Civil Asset forfeiture 3. Apply STRONG oversight to the FISA courts

I disagree with no knocks period, but doing one on a girl who used to date the guy you want seems especially dumb.

cops lying in affidavits and sworn testimony at trial needs to be prosecuted with extreme prejudice
the fact that people defend this is mind blowing

Who's defending cops lying?

So, as a Louisvillian that's been following this for a hot minute, here's the issues:
- The drug investigation initially targeted Jamarcus Glover and another guy for trafficking. Taylor had a previous relationship with Glover but was no longer involved with him.
- The search warrant included her address because someone on the force claimed she was receiving "packages of interest" at her house through USPS and someone saw her car in front of Glover's house.
On the request for the no-knock warrant (see below) LMPD claimed they verified through a USPS Postal Inspector that Glover was receiving packages at Taylor's residence.
USPS came out and said that the police did not verify that with them. So there's suspicion that they lied to obtain the warrant.

- They executed the No-Knock warrant after midnight. Police claim they identified themselves (even though it was a no-knock). Kenneth Walker, Taylor's boyfriend, said that they didn't and he thought someone was trying to break in. So he fired shots at them. LMPD fired back. Taylor was killed as a result of the exchange.
Initially Walker was arrested for attempted murder of an officer, after appearing before a Grand Jury without all of the evidence (it was shoddy as hell). They released him and dropped the charges because they determined by the accounts of Walker and the officers that Walker was legally defending his home.

- There were no body cams on during the no-knock because the officers were told they didn't have to have them on since they were in "plain clothes". Chief Conrad has since been fired for telling officers to turn their cams off during the protests and the shooting of David McAtee.
- As it stands, no one has been charged because LMPD is currently in contract negotiations and the previous contract that gives full immunity to officers during an investigation is still active.
- The LMPD incident report was released for the first time to the public on June 11th. It was virtually blank. They didn't even report that Taylor had injuries.

- Today, after quite a bit of silence, the Attorney General held a press conference to ask the public to be patient but that he would also not reveal details of the case while its ongoing.

In short, people are upset that there's been next to no transparency and shite looks as shady as it can get. We're going on three months now with no answers. It's been incompetence from the AG to Louisville Mayor Fischer to the Police Chief. fricking embarrassing.

They boarding up the buikding in Louisville, told workers to leave...
Yeah they about to announce them officers aren't being charged.
And I hope the protestors burn that city up. Q
That's not protesting.
Why is everyone boarding up and assuming people will not or cannot protest peacefully and legally and that they will resort to violence and harming others?

the fact that Blue Lives Matter people and the courts start the conversation by giving LEO instant credibility is a major problem
our system was created to make cops face a harsh standard in order to intrude on our lives. everything they say should be criticized to that high standard. our system, today, does the opposite and effectively presumes LEO is being truthful and everyone else has to disprove that assumption
it's insanity

And LMPD already has stink all over them for how they handled the Explorer/sex abuse scandal.

does anyone HONESTLY believe the cops involved properly identified themselves? or are we to believe the innocent man felt like he needed to have a random death wish and shoot a cops?

Could he not have been groggy from waking up and not heard them when they identified themselves? Most people don't wake up instantly alert.
Having said that, this department seems shady as frick based on that timeline posted above.

it's their duty to ensure people comprehend the identification
and the fact that he was sleeping isn't a reason to fail to properly ID themselves b/c they chose the ungodly hour for the raid
you choose a time when it's reasonable that a homeowner will be sleeping and it's your duty to ensure a reasonable sleeping person comprehends your identification
in a sane world that isn't trying its hardest to be a police state, this would be an extremely LEO-friendly standard

Could be.
Here's the thing though: we have no evidence of him lying about that night. We have a ton of evidence of the police doing nothing but lying.
Who's credibility should we trust?
