I'm not very interested in what some twenty-something has to say about having kids. They'll have them in a few years unless they can't. Or are alone.

Yep. My wife and I have this conversation at least a few times per month. We're both 35 and in no hurry. The freedom we have that our friends with kids don't have is pretty nice.

You'd have a lot less people collecting gubment checks if more people were this selfish.

The longer you wait the more likely you'll have a Corky. Then who will be lolling?

Hope that week in Orange Beach is worth it.

Because there's no one in this thread that is over 30, married, and willingly childless? Have you read this thread?

Have you noticed how many horse people seem to fall in our camp as far as the kids thing goes?

Very small percentage of the population. This thread naturally won't bear that out.

Not necessarily. For some people, it's just not the way our lives turned out. I can go home and cry in a pint of Ben & Jerry's every night or I can accept the way my life turned out and make the best of it.

Will I regret not getting married and having kids? No. There's no reason for me to regret something that didn't happen.

Yeah forreal. If you don't have kids and vacation in OB, you're doing it wrong.

He also doesn't. He knows that his job makes just staying married difficult, much less trying to raise a family.

As I've stated before, I could not do the single mother thing.

But, we discussed and agreed before getting married. That was the smart thing to do.

Good noho. Just wallowing in my selfishness and enjoying my vacations (?!what vacations?!) like any good non breeding female should. How about you?

Better than having a kid we can't afford.

oh yeah

but you know Aspy, I've seen lots of horse people who probably shouldn't of had kids b/c their priorities seemed a bit out of whack. Lets face it, (multiple)horse ownership is a full time commitment. There is no way the wife and I could have kids and do what we do. You and your man are in the same situation I know.
Its not about insecurity for me. I'm too selfish to give up my lifestyle for a kid. Knew that before I had horses. Or a wife.

Yep

Funny how that works. Most (not all) of my horse friends that had kids had them accidentally.

Oh. Well I'm sure I'll be too old by then for it to even matter.

Current really is walking in thin ice, though.
