Authorities said the couple bought an SUV, two four-wheelers, a camper and a car trailer with the money.

They also said the money was used on bills, car repairs and cash purchases. Along with that, the couple allegedly gave $15,000 to friends in need of money, according to the report.

This is basically why you hear about all those lotto winner who go bankrupt In a few years after winning.

This is either a poorly thought-out take or you do not realize how financial institutions work.

Actually, it could be both.

My guess is the OP is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Most of that money was recovered, and of course the feds proceeded to frick my client and THEY kept the money.

So it's completely forfeited? Or does the couple (that now has a diminished ability to repay) now owe that money back in restitution?

Should have paid cash for a burner phone in a major city. Made a very large bit coin purchase that overdraw the account. Tossed phone. Wait five days. Call and report negative balance. Continue normal life.

Grab money later.

Hundred grand is nowhere near enough to do something like that.

I would need at least 3-5 million to never work another day for the rest of my life and live comfortably at my current pace and lifestyle.

How much time is the bank teller facing?

Being a dumbass is not a crime. What about the depositor who failed to notice on the receipt the money went in to the wrong account?

Even if the bank never figures this out, and just says "aw, shucks" and makes a big $100,000 entry to some make-up account (not likely), what about the IRS?

Or head to the local sports book for the lock of the week. Then just put the money back. Easy as pie.

As my dad used to tell me all the time, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If I find 120k in my account randomly, no way am I touching it. Whoever sent it, (even if it wasnt the bank) is going to come back looking, and they will know how to find you because it's your bank account.

Reminds me of something I saw on fb saying if you were in a hotel room and found a huge stash of like 1 million cash under the bed, what would you do with it. I'm not touching a single dollar and immediately asking for either a room change or completely checking out. That shite is probably connected to the Mexican Cartel and I dont want to get killed.
