Couple Arrested for Leaving 2 YR Old Home Alone to Play Pokemon Go

An Arizona couple has been arrested after police say they left their 2-year-old boy home alone for up to 90 minutes to go play Pokemon Go.

Brent Daley, 27, and Brianne Daley, 25, are facing charges for child endangerment and child neglect.

A neighbor called 911 after she found the boy outside a San Tan Valley home in 96-degree weather with no water Thursday night, according to a news release from the Pinal County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies arrived on scene, the boy was screaming and crying and trying to get inside the home.

He was barefoot, with only a diaper and T-shirt on.

Deputies say the child was "red faced, sweaty and dirty."

The door was unlocked, and when deputies went inside, they found three dogs, but no one was home.

Deputies were able to find a phone number for Brent Daley who, when they called to tell him his child had been found abandoned, allegedly replied "Whatever," and hung up on the deputies. The deputies had been at the home for almost an hour by the time the couple returned home.

They allegedly told deputies that they left the boy sleeping while they went out to get gas in their car.

They were arrested, after which Sheriff Paul Babeu said they admitted they had been driving around San Tan Valley, stopping at parks and other areas to play Pokemon Go.

The state Department of Child Services took custody of the child.

The couple has been booked into the PCSO Jail.
