Could you live in near isolation?

Assuming you would be safe and comfortable with technology, but be without human interaction the vast majority of the time, except perhaps on supply runs.
I couldn't do it in my personal situation, because I could never leave my family.
But I think my personality could handle it, otherwise.

Do I have a computer with the internet? If so, then yes.

Before marriage and kid? I would have preferred it.
If my wife and kid can come with me, I'd move tomorrow.

Yes, technology. TV, internet, VR Porn if you like. Just no real people.

I like my solitude, but not that much. I lived in near isolation right after college when I moved to a town where I knew nobody. Pretty much my only human interaction was at work. It was very lonely the first few months and it sucked. I got really depressed.

Easily.
The longer I lived by myself out in the middle of nowhere the less I like people and noise. To the point I stopped responding to knocks on the door if it wasn't someone I specifically requested to come by and turned off all communication notifications except answering machine flashing light and cell screen notices.
I can easily walk past bums, winos, and the injured w/out even acknowledging their existence. If I am not getting paid significantly then other people are just an obstacle to get around.

A good internet connection, a nearby place that I can fish and some land for livestock and I would be happy as a clam.

Yes.
Maybe it's because in childhood I was an only child and there weren't any kids close to my age in a five block radius.
Now husband and I are out in the country. When we were rebuilding this old house we noticed one July we hadn't been into Knoxville for almost 18 days. Had had a trip to the local hardware store and one to a small grocery, but not bright lights, big city and no telephone for that long. Then we went in only because we were running out of supplies (food, hardware, paint, etc.)

I would be stark raving mad within two days.
Once I tried to be by myself for a few days in a kind of a personal retreat. I went downhill fast. I am not built for silence or solitude.
Not criticizing those who can live alone. Maybe they are stronger people. Not me. I'm tribal to the core.

If I can take my wife then yes. Totally alone, nope.

Kids aside? Yes. In fact when my youngest graduates high school I am heading to the mountains to do just that for a few years.

If I have my spouse,yes... I'd love to live in Idaho or Montana out in the middle of nowhere. As long as I have power and TV and internet I would be fine.
