What did you do?
Posted on 9/15/17 at 6:56 pm to Retrograde
not for the pay....
i can either have an easier job with a lot less pay (hospital), or have a more stressful job with around the same amount of pay (another retail place, one that probably has a drive through)... pretty much all the retail pharmacies pay the same amount....

I would probably have to leave the state to get a better job when considering my total compensation package

If you could then it's kind of foolish to be staying at your current job. You should be transitioning to the "better job" right now.
More pay does not always equal better. Company car, mileage, travel, and employee paid medical and auto insurance adds up.
I think I could get one tomorrow that pays more in salary, but still come up 10k short on everything else.

One I like more? Yes
One that pays better? No
And that's sad because I don't make shite

If I fired myself, yes I could
Posted on 9/15/17 at 7:55 pm to Retrograde
Not really - I've pretty much hit my ceiling, baws.
Posted on 9/15/17 at 7:58 pm to Retrograde
Possibly. I could at least get a lateral position in a couple of days-a week.

If we're talking Southeast Asia, I prefer Thai. Women. Thai women.

No fricking shite. I never said or came close to implying that it does. You said "better." You did not say "more pay." If you can get a better job, whatever that means to you, quickly after getting fired from your current job and you know it then you are a total fool for not transitioning to that job right now, and you are wasting your life.

I would think most people who could get a better paying job than the one they have would.

Money? Maybe.
Envirinment? No way in hell

Had a job I needed out of for ethical reasons.
I found a replacement for equal pay that risked getting stuck in a rut. I was, even after 4 years. I was looking for an out, but wasn't getting any bites.
Got laid off.
Landed a job making much more money, but it sucked. Sent out some feelers, got a bite on a job that paid less, but had higher potential.
Much happier now. Ain't making shite at the moment, but the potential is still there.
If I got laid off from this one, I could probably make more. I'm willing to ride this one out, though, because I enjoy it.
Never burn bridges. It will serve you well.

My hub lost his job after 23 years with the same company two years ago. We decided to move home to be close to family and took a transfer back to the BR office. A year after we moved, they closed office. He was able to find a job quickly, but it pays 20 grand less ( he kept his salary from Texas at old company) and he has to drive to Lafayette.
He recently went to a job interview here in BR for a job that he was very qualified for. The pay was better than the job in Lafayette. He went on three job interviews, had a great interview with COO, was given information about cost of benefits etc at close of interview and was told they'd contact him within a weeks time.
They never did.
The job market here is awful-- and the pay is terrible. If he he gets laid off again, we are leaving.
