You could do it until you die. The lack of protein won't take long

Just for reference, a cup of lentils is 18g of protein. 8oz of 80/20 ground beef is 19g. One cup of pinto beans is 15g of protein. I personally would not eat like that, but she will most certainly not die from lack of protein if she ate that way forever.

Good point, and she used spices, salt and pepper and the like, the stuff most everyone has in their pantry already, but still.

The cost of those is spread out over several weeks too since you use so little each meal

I remember when Gwen Paltrow tried the SNAP challenge, and ran out of money after gathering spices.

I appreciate people like this since most Americans spend more than that daily for lunch.

I think I could average $12 if I had to over time, but not spending only $12 in a single week.

Would need to make some bulk purchases upfront.

Right. You think that is enough for a week?

Not watching a 40 minute video about this subject. However since you did...

Did she account for the money needed to make this?

If you know how to cook, raw ingredients are cheap.

Flour
Corn meal
Grits
Beans
Oil

Add a few other items and you can eat for weeks

You can eat cheap and relatively healthy. Ground turkey, rice, black beans, a couple packets of taco seasoning will make many meals.

If you meal plan and go vegetable forward, it’s not hard to eat cheap. Rice and beans with a little meat mixed in is very cheap.

Live in the woods or near some water and add fish and game and you could go a long long time like this.

I would like a pork chop or two and some eggs. Maybe 20.00 would do it.
