If I shot Gavrillo Princip in the cafe before he could shoot the Arch-Duke, I couldn’t imagine history taking a worse turn barring nuclear holocaust. The Bolsheviks would have never gotten power in Russia nor would Hitler have risen to power.

Well technically it would make us fight the Soviets in all out war instead of 50 years of a Cold War. If we get the nukes first like our WWII it means we win with a high probability of No Vietnam, No Korean War etc or at least we outright win both, no or less support of evil govts in the Middle East and Africa cause they are against pro Soviet governments, no 50 years of wasting money on a massive deterrent to the Soviet Union.
Maybe history would be better.

I feel like the cliche answer is either trying to stop true evil or huge personal financial gains.
And I would do the latter for sure. Space it out between sports betting, investing in companies, and real estate.

It’s always a fun fantasy to think about, but visiting the past would be a bad time for pretty much every one of us. Even the past that we know well.
Unless you come from the exact same culture and you’re only going back a few years, you would stick out like a sore thumb. Those of you who want to go back to Medieval or ancient Europe, for instance, would be lucky to last a day. It would be like visiting another planet.
The thing to remember about history is that we only know what’s been recorded. 99.9999999% of past events is unrecorded. Who knows what kind of mess you could find yourself in, with no knowledge of how to save yourself.

The real question is can I come back. If I can come back I’m investing heavily and probably taking out a few notoriously bad people. If I can’t come back I’ll probably just go back to the late 60’s early 70’s make a shite ton betting on sports, load up on antibiotics, and enjoy the sexual revolution the pill brought on.
