I always thought it was strange that Costco treats you like a thief before you’re allowed to leave the building.

It's the only way you can treat the thieves like thieves without getting in trouble. If you treat everyone the same you are golden.

I was told places like Costco, Sams, etc it is a contractual obligation. You don’t like it, they say, don’t be a member. But places like Walmart, Target, other stores with no membership, it’s your property, once paid for, & not a damn thing they can do. The Target here doesn’t check anymore, but one of the Walmart’s has someone just to check receipts. I tell them, I don’t have time & usually they just nod, but one time had a gung ho bitch try to halt me with security. Yeah, no. Didn’t work out for her.

The last time I had that happen at Walmart, I just pressed my receipt into his hand and kept walking. He said I couldn't do that and I just waved over my shoulder.

They really don't check. Now at Sams, they scan items.

Did you steal anything or something? Sams has them, if they are busy I always do that because I don't really think they check to see if your receipt matches with what you have, they just check your receipt with a highlighter.

I stopped going to Costco after being accused of stealing a bag of Kirkland chips and a kid’s book by a receipt checker. I just paid for $400 worth of stuff and went through regular checkout. “Wait here while I get security.” Nagh, I’m all set. I think that was the first time I ever MF’d a senior citizen. No one hassles at the Whole Foods.
