There isn’t jackshit to do outdoor-wise in Houston but the city itself is far from soulless. It’s actually fairly vibrant if you get out of your mega gringo bubble.

Honestly, leaving Louisiana for Texas isn't particularly appealing to me. Don't get me wrong, Texas is a great state but if I left here it wouldn't be for some flat terrain with high humidity. I'd be essentially replacing my least favorite aspects of Louisiana with more of the same. There are other good job markets.

The only place I’d even remotely consider living in Louisiana is Lafayette but I’d never find a decent paying job there.

Austin, San Antonio and central Texas are not flat or nearly as humid and no hurricanes. Still not as frick though

Louisiana is fricked up in a myriad of ways but like I said, these threads always devolve into “my giant Texas suburb is better”

Houston is cool but agree there isn’t shite to do outdoors and other than like the parks and Allen parkway it’s ugly as hell

Yeah, my sister lives in Austin. It doesn't really appeal to me. I'd much rather live in Asheville, Boise or some place like that. It's all subjective obviously.

I don’t really like suburbs in general. I prefer the small to medium towns like Boerne, Bulverde, Wimberley. They definitely have a suburban element but not all olive gardens and chili’s.

Yeah, most of Houston is fairly ugly. My neighborhood is condo on top of condo; it’s ugly as all hell, but it’s utilitarian.

Yeah people from real mountains aren’t impressed with small limestone hills but for someone from Metairie like me it’s pretty cool

I'm not knocking Texas. It's a far better state than Louisiana. It just isn't high on my list when my kid gets out of school in a few years. I'm more of a Montana type. I loathe the hot weather in the South.

This more than anything else. I was sick of being robbed by politicians.

shite. I'd join Roger in Alaska if my wife wouldn't divorce me. I hate the heat. I'd rather deal with the bears.

Dutchtown high and Katy high have the same average act score - 26

No shot dutchotown students average a 26

That would be on par with the top private schools in the state man. You looked at niche which is based on people’s reported scores.

I don't believe that the ACT is required at Katy ISD. The SAT is though. In short, the Katy ACT scores are typically for "out of state" college bound only. As such, the comparison to Dutchtown self reporters is probably legit (mainly honors and gifted students). Where Katy impresses me is that it is MUCH larger than Dutchtown. It is a large sample size. In short, they seem to do a really fine job there based on the data.

Houston and Dallas are two of the most soul-less and boring places to live. I cant imagine anywhere less I’d want to spend my 20s.

Houston and Dallas both are absolutely loaded with gorgeous women. You must be gay, in which case they have a fairly healthy gay population too from what I've heard.
