If I recall correctly, one of the game stores was very close to Mama Brava’s and to the left. Electronics Boutique?

I think you’re right! There was a fake gold chains kiosk right in front of it

Christmas time was awesome in Cortana. Girls were everywhere. We would just walk around for hours from one end to the other. Back and forth, back and forth.

I have a lot of fond memories of that place. In the early 00s I worked about a mile down the road and used to go in there to grab Chick-fil-A for lunch every once in awhile. It was a pretty sad place by that time.

Right after the Mall of Louisiana opened, Cortana was getting bad which was probably the late 1990's.

I came to visit my parents on vacation and took my dad to Sears to get a riding mower.
A Restless Native, also known as a Mandatory Day Care Student, also known as a Honor Roll Student tried to steal my truck in the Sears loading zone of all places.

I introduced him my my weapon and I guess he saw that I had no problem using it.
The restless native dropped a BB gun that looked like a hand gun running across the parking lot.

Mall Security really was non existent at the end and the Mandatory Day Care kids new this.

Cortana was the shite.

Service Merchandise had a banging toy section. Good arcade. The first movie I can remember seeing in a theater was ET at Cortana. Eating at the Piccadilly. The smell of the corn dog place. It was fun to go at Christmas time and just enjoy the holiday atmosphere. The first dollar store I can ever remember going to was in Cortana. During the first Gulf War it sold rolls of toilet paper with Saddam’s face on it. lol
Wifey (no pics) and I got our wedding rings from the jeweler there. Tossing coins in the fountain. It was a great mall during the heyday of malls.

Wasn't it called "Everything's a Dollar"? I remember that place. It was by Service Merchandise.

Cortana in the mid 90s was the shite! Nothing like going to look at Jordan’s and Ken Griffey Jr freshwater and my parents like hell no we not spending all that money on those.

Yeah, that’s it! Didn’t remember the name of the place until you said it. It was mostly crap but when you’re ten or eleven with just a couple of bucks in your pocket it did the job.

Orange Julius or something like that. Small fast food window. Was also a Subway at some point.

I worked at the Color Tec One Hour Photo (1987-1989) which was in between Mama Brava and Chik-fil-A. I was so stoked when the Taco Bell opened a few doors down. There was a Dairy Queen close by, too.

In 1974, 7 yr old me got on my Honda mini trail and followed my Dad on his YZ 250 up Broadmoor Ave, crossed the service road, crossed Florida Blvd and road our asses off in the new "parking lot" of future Cortana Mall.

My helmet was a Dolphins Hutch football helmet with the face mask removed.

Safety First.

The Atchafalaya bridge? Last I heard it’s still being worked on but I’m not sure. Haven’t been down since May.

I always kinda felt Patterson could’ve capitalized a bit more on the highway than we have. Like a nice truck stop or something would do well in the area along with some other shops to encourage stopping off the highway.

It gets hard when everyone want a to go to BV since they don’t have city tax though.
