Yeah that’s out of control.
Right now there are two kinds of people. People like that and people who aren’t taking it seriously at all, people who make fun of those kinds of people.
Both are in the wrong. It’s right to be cautious but not to THAT extent and it’s wrong to make fun of those who are being cautious. Not everyone is walking around with great health and normal immune systems

The mainstream media starts the fire then social media fans the flames into a full blown world-wide forest fire. My wife's uncle called two weeks back imploring us to go out and buy provisions (canned goods, non-perishables, etc) NOW! He stopped just short of trying to get us to buy stacks of gold from Pat Boone.
Social media allows every bozo, over-reactor, and bored housewife the opportunity to work each other up in a complete terror base on misinformation and/or hyperbole. My MIL won't even take my kids on a walk around my small, middle class neighborhood, because she saw one time on Facebook a story about a kid 2000 miles away from my home getting kidnapped while walking with their grandmother.

The real problem with this, just like politics, is the issue of confirmation bias. People are looking for one article to confirm their belief and then sharing it everywhere as if it is fact. That one doctor said this, or that one MSM critic said this, and they run with it without any full scale confirmation. I keep seeing that the flu is more deadly, yet the flu has a death rate of .1%. Yes, the true rate for CoronaVirus is likely less than 3.4% as stated, but even at 1% the fact is, it is more deadly than the flu. The simple fact is that if you wash your hands, avoid contact with sick individuals, and don't lick doorknobs, the chances of you getting it and especially dying from it, are very very small. Could it spread and become a worldwide issue, yes definitely, but it's being overblown on both sides IMO.

People should be making plans as to how to make their lives suck when events are cancelled, schools shut down for a bit, etc.
It's not an apocalyptic scenario, of course. I really think, if the data holds, that the plea should be more along the lines of "Listen, if you're 30, 40, 50, this probably won't impact you, but keeping this away from the oldest and most infirm falls on us anyway. Nobody needs to be taking care of your 25 year old arse and using medical resources that could go to someone who might die from this. So follow all the precautions, don't panic, etc. this is more for other people than it is for you. Be a good citizen."

You're exaggerations are just as ridiculous. I hope that makes sense to you but I have a feeling you actually believe all that you wrote. Your "sensationalism" may be all in your head. Seek help.

I think there is some level of unwarranted hysteria with Coronavirus. I also think there are some real concerns with it that do exist, though.

Not helpful that the original Corona thread on this board was titled “people falling in the streets” for like 2 weeks.

What's funny though is that many of these people are the same ones who don't get a flu shot as they are convinced that it gives you the flu.
What’s also funny is your little flu shot won’t do crap against this. See, two can play this game

So let's say you somehow catch corona. And maybe several hundreds of other people in your area do as well.
Please enlighten as to how:
1. 500 rolls of toilet paper
2. 100 cases of water
3. 350 cans of peas
4. 1 Jim Bakker Apocalypse Kit
is going to help you out while you recover (or die)?
I just don't get this hysteria.
