Where do I start? People here like to party, socialize and shopping and sports are their lives. The majority work low paying hourly service industry jobs that offer few benefits, so taking a day off is out of the question.
In addition, many just do not take this seriously. My Mom called my cousin the other day. He is a veteran who did two tours and has young kids. He told my Mom-- It's just a little cold. That's the general consensus.
Also-- expecting anyone here to follow social distancing is laughable. They don't know how, and think it's a joke.
The best thing we can do is to lock us down. It's the only way our state will not end up "like Italy".

Are we at critical mass yet? People passing out outside the hospital doors because they can’t get in? No? Weren’t we 10 days behind Italy 14 days ago?

I also would rather worry about the economy later. Our economy in Louisiana is always shite anyway.

I think I read that Georgia has twice the deaths of Louisiana at 30 or so I know I read that somewhere.

Nice freak out but the only reasons LA has had lot of cases is because we had Mardi Gras 3 weeks ago and people coming to NOLA for to get on and off cruise ships
Also we had more test than most other states at the beginning
Nowhere in America will end up like Italy

That's all fine and well, but I should not take this medicine, but I guess in this instance the benefits outweigh the risk of further deterioration of eyesight.

Not enough people are taking this seriously. I asked people where I work a bout it and some had no clue and one didn't have any tv. How is anyone suppose slow this spread if they aren't informed? Then you have pricks that go into grocery stores and purposely cough on produce. It is what makes it harder on our healthcare and that is what we are trying to avoid.

I take medicine off label for my disease, and it works just as well as the medicines suggested for it, and has no side effects. I have MS.-- so yes, it's very common. Many neurologists say it does not work, but I am here to say it does, it just does not cost 5000 a month, and for the most part profit always comes before patients.

The Italy thing is a quote from JBE, not my thoughts. To be perfectly honest, we are only 12 days into this in LA, lets see where we stand in 12 more. Then we can determine if his words were correct.

Look, there are lots of valid arguments about how far we should go or not go with this as it relates to the economy. Making the argument that “it isn’t bad in Italy” is not a good argument.

So you’re expecting no more cases in Italy? Even when the number of new cases continues to rise daily? That’s a crazy position but let’s assume you’re right. It still translates to 3,000 us deaths per day. Seems like a lot to me.
Until we clearly see a peak in Italy these type of projections are useless.
