Hearing talk at the local noodle shop here in SWLA at lunch. They have family in that province that are in the medical field. They are in contact by phone once a day only, government restriction on communication. No cell phones work at all without wifi and they use whats app when they can find internet turned on by government. They are telling family over here that they are certain the infected number is well over 250,000+ conservative and they know for certain death toll is over 1000 people and would not surprise them if death toll was over 2500. Government is controlling everything at every clinic. Soon as a patient is on the down hill side, they make a round and that patient has been taken from clinic by government and a new one in its place. They have been asked to throw all kinds of different meds at the virus and document any reaction.

just read your comment. mjax57. People we spoke with today are also using same app to communicate when the wifi is turned on at times. they said its only on for single minutes at a time every couple hours.

I'm hoping that this a conversion rate thing. One dollar equals almost 7 yuan. So maybe 250k cases needs to be converted to US rate.

Nothing. The world is too reliant upon Chinese manufacturing to do anything of consequence, even if they were to be responsible for a global pandemic that kills millions.
For the record I'm not saying that the Coronavirus is/will be a global pandemic capable of killing millions, I was simply using a hypothetical.

How would they know?
Even if they are medical professionals, how informed can they really be on the big picture, especially if the govt is actively suppressing? Seems they would just be knowledgeable with what they are directly working on
What, did they multiply what they saw with the number of hospitals in the area?
Also:

Yet, when asked, You can assuredly say that 250,000 people are involved. Oh, and the deaths aren't 1k, they are 2k.
Maybe we are just not in on the joke, maybe 250k is the 'bout 350' in China.
