Some good news from Italy
“BREAKING: Coronvirus Outbreak. One week after Italy's national lockdown (8 days after the north), Italy has three days with same number of new cases. This means 5 days after lockdown cases leveled off, consistent with typical incubation period of 3-5 days. This is good news.”
Praise the Lord and please let that continue and be the same here.

One of “these people” weighing in: Yeah, I had planned on living through it, seeing as I’m a productive, law-abiding citizen in my early 40s with school-age children. But thanks for pointing out that I’m a lost cause regardless so I can go ahead and get out of your way.

saving as many people as possible
Again with the virtue signaling. If this is the case, then force quarantine on everyone. True quarantine. For a month. No one leaves the house for anything. People will starve to death. But hey, they didn’t die from your scary virus did they?

I have done that. But my wife is a medical professional. She is required to work during this time. She will interact with a-holes like you who still want to live their lives as normal without making any sacrifices under the delusion that everything is fine and will end up walking around asymptomatic possibly spreading it to those who could give it to their child who might have health issues or their parents or SO.
The fact is, you and your SO are comfortable and aren’t willing to become uncomfortable for a little while in order to save others lives. If she’s a medical professional that’s different but I’m guessing, judging by your immoral beliefs, likely not otherwise you’d have more tact and decency and maybe a dash of compassion but you don’t. You say you’re worried about the economy and Americans being pulled into poverty but you’re not. You’re only worried about yourself. And that’s fine, but don’t complain when people call you on your shite and call you for what you are.
YES. ( immune comprised person here)

I’m a medical professional, and I will still go to my gym as long as it is open. If there are restaurants still open, I will be in one on friday night.
I’m tired of idiots in here telling people to lock themselves up for two weeks. Take proper precautions, washing your hands, not touching your face after you touch a door knob or some other germ breeding ground and you will be fine.
82,000 of out 1.4 Billion people in china got the virus. That is 0.006% of the population. It obviously doesn’t spread as much as you and some other suckers want to believe.

You got the same chance of living though this compared to most other URVs.
Which is not a great percentage

It’s been longer than two months. The virus has been here longer than January

That’s your life. Nothing the government or businesses are doing makes you and more or less likely to get it. These actions are more about WHEN you get it (if you ever even become symptomatic at all)

Mid January was the first American case.

Were not over reacting to the data we have, we’re over reacting to the fact that we fricking actively chose not to get data.
The data we have plots the USA right on top of Italy. Our log-scale growths on both cases and deaths plot as a straight line, confirming exponential data in both, at least as recorded.
In reality who fricking knows, we’re ramping up testing damn near exponentially, so it’s probably more likely that the growth we’re seeing, even if exponential, is at a far less significant R0 than is currently suggested, it may even be linear (declining R0).
But, we don’t know, because the CDC chose actively NOT to know. As a result, we’re looking at a 4-8 week pause in normal life just to figure it out.
The only thing that is certain is we’re all going to get sick of the 37 Netflix documentaries and 6-part mini-series coming out next year uncovering the “hidden” truth of all this shiite.

Speaking of Netflix. They released their Pandemic doc in January. I’m wondering if this is just some huge publicity stunt for that show and their service.

That flattening the curve isn’t about stopping the virus and saving old folks and people like you who would get it and die anyway? That’s a fact
no dumb arse that’s not a fact
The people in Italy who are told they don’t have enough ventilators to give them one. You know that they are going to die anyway?
