We are also 20x the number of cases reported 12 days ago.
It begs the question.....what exactly does he think is a concerning percentage?
Is his claim basically that infectious diseases don’t matter unless everybody is coughing from it?

That wasn’t as clever as it sounded in your head.

Currently there are 0.00000907% of the US population infected by Coronavirus.
That’s a decent next level talking point you have shifted to. That one should last awhile before you have to move on to the next one.

If your daughter had COVID-19 she no doubt spread it to many others. This is why testing is so critical. Every single case like this can produce a slew of new cases.
We are rapidly approaching the point with the lack of testing where the best way to estimate the number of cases is to look at the number of deaths by risk category and back extrapolate.

The most damning thing to the theory is that they were able to phylogenetically confirm the earliest it was in the US was around Jan 10-15.
This is the one part of the science that is hard to argue with. I've been following Trevor
Bedford who was on the front lines of initially detecting this in Washington and he has dug into a lot of these theories.
His most recent analysis shows an estimate of 10,000 to 40,000 actual cases in the US (as of Friday) and a 1 to 10 ratio between reported cases and actual cases.

This is an interesting theory and I've seen arguments for as early as September. However, a number of researchers have been reviewing ILINet & WHO-NREVSS data for the US and as of 3.13.20, there still wasn't strong evidence of a high volume undetected COVID-19 in the data. Also, the earliest sequence up on Nextstrain is from mid-Jan from Washington state. The Seattle Flu Study group has been looking into the data and hasn't been able to find anything before that mid-January case.
The claim that this was circulating in the US in December seems unlikely. We would have seen cases like the Washington retirement home that was doing massive damage to high risk populations. We didn’t start to see that until late February.

I have a cough and a little short of breath. But I feel good enough to go play golf. Am I cleared to go?

It’s just the latest shifting goalpost trying to rationalize this as the same as flu.
So we are in agreement?

I remember seeing some posts about positive cases tested in BR during the middle of this week. Has there still been no reported presumed or confirmed cases in EBR yet?

Dr. Fauci said on Meet the Press he would prefer a 14 day “shutdown” (not sure what all that would include) to slow coronavirus down.

Do you have asthma or allergies? Because pollen is becoming an issue right now, too. I have been having a bit of a flare up in my asthma lately.

My 19-year-old daughter did (no pics).

I’m guessing he’s referring to lockdowns like Italy and Spain. I’m confident this will be coming soon by states in the next week or two. Hell, Dewine said this morning that he wouldn’t be surprised if Ohio schools don’t open again for the school year.
