It is kind of bizarre to me that we would shut down air traffic for terrorists but will do nothing for a potential plague.
The former risk is a plane getting blown up and the other could kill thousands. If carriers can spread the virus before symptoms are showing, it may already be all over the U.S. and we don't know it yet.
I'm not saying this is an epidemic, but when one does come, air travel is a perfect delivery system.

conservative approach.
Shut it all down.
See how it spreads elsewhere.
Trump is about employment numbers. He aint shutting down commerce.

We need to let these people do whatever they want because we're all citizens of the world.

I'd bet these baws are blocking the road to keep people out of their town. Unlike the cities trying to keep them in.

Must not be any truck nuts in Wuhan. If this is all that’s standing between me and safety I’m putting my 4x4 thorough that wall like a fricking sledge hammer

They are still building it, but seriously you can just drive around that wall lol

Just FYI a surgical mask will limit spread to others if you are sick but won’t protect you very well from inhaling the virus
You need a respirator to protect yourself. N-95 or better

It’s the NYPost not NYTimes. This video was posted on Friday and linked on here. Nobody knows if it’s true. We don’t know if she was just talking about Wuhan or the entire country.
If it’s true and it was posted 2 days ago it’s likely much more than that by now. The bigger unknown is the true mortality rate. If there are 100k infected and only 40 dead this might be on par with the common flu. If there are 4000 dead from 100k sick this might be a game changer.
It’s possible this ends up just being a nasty version of the flu and the fear and hysteria is unwarranted. The reaction by the CCP seems strange for only 50 deaths.

More updates about #WuhanCoronavirus - #China’s National Health Commission said one big difference between #WuhanCoronavirus and #SARS is that the new virus is transmittable during incubation period.
Possible cases in VA now

JUST IN: The Virginia Department of Health says it's investigating 3 possible cases of #Coronavirus...1 in NoVa & 2 in central VA. The department says the 3 people meet both the clinical & epidemiologic criteria for the virus.
I guess we will find out if this is as infectious as suspected and can be spread before symptoms show up, since we now have suspected cases spread around the country.

To be fair, locking down 56 million people in a country of 1.5 billion or so is like 3% of their population. An equivalent in the USA would be like shutting down the Chicago MSA with a couple of extra counties sprinkled in.
Given that Chinese culture values the state more than the individual, the fact that they know it originates in this area, their government doesn’t want to catch hell on a global scale like they did with SARS, and the fact that they have the means to do this sort of lockdown much more easily than pretty much every other on earth, save for North Korea, I’m not surprised in the least by it.
Unless you are elderly or very young, you really don’t have much to worry about here. Our immune systems are stronger than the average chinaman’s and we have access to significantly better medical care than they do.
My only concern would be if this was an intentional/accidental release from that bio lab they have over there, but that’s in the conspiracy theory area and I’m not going down that road.
In other words, this time next week, this will be their problem and their problem alone while we are all gearing up for the Super Bowl.

I was just thinking about this. This couldn't have happened at a worse time, really. Think about all of the international college students / professors traveling worldwide over the semester break. They've all returned to the U.S. over the last couple of weeks.

Link?
Their immune systems may actually be stronger since they are constantly exposed to a ridiculous amount of pathogens. As long as both individuals are healthy.
Your point about better medical care is probably the most relevant
