OMG! 7 people out of 330 million died yesterday from the glorified flu!!!! Life is cancelled!

Imagine this place if 1000 people a week were dying like h1n1.
I assume you're talking about the 2009 H1N1 outbreak. If so, you're comparing apples to oranges. If you look at lab confirmed cases (which is what we're counting right now for Covid-19) from April through Aug 2009, total deaths in laboratory confirmed US H1N1 cases were 593.
LINK
After that, they quit reporting confirmed H1N1 numbers and just combined it with all influenza positive deaths. From August 30 to Nov 21, for example, they reported 1,224 confirmed US influenza deaths, from all subtypes including H1N1.
LINK
By end of Feb 2010, the number of total lab confirmed (seasonal influenza and H1N1) deaths had risen to 2,009 (August 2009 to Feb 27 2010)
LINK
As far as I can tell, they were never reporting thousands per week of US 2009 H1N1 deaths. Those may be estimated figures based on some after the fact model.
If you were referring to the Spanish flu, that's been estimated to have killed between 1% and 6% of the human population, then yep, it would be complete chaos if something on that scale was happening right now.

Something doesn’t add up. There’s a roach in the woodpile somewhere.

There is a patient in South Carolina from a nursing home. Hopefully it’s not another Washington situation

Add Utah to the list of States that have shuttered school for the next two weeks.

That sort of reply is the exact opposite of what we need to do as a country right now. We need to be coming together, not making divisive statements like that. But anyway....
They simply emailed the employees first so they could start making prepreations. No more or less than that.

Los Angeles has been interesting so far. Sat in zero traffic today. Bars are like Monday level busy. But open.
The stores are INSANE. No garnishes on drinks at the last bar I was at. Otherwise, normal-ish. Still holding all my dinner reservations.
Picked up a car today just in case, but ideally can fly home fine on Monday.

Ah, a pun using the Mexican beer, Corona. Very clever indeed.

This. All those numbers people are quoting about the flu and swine flu are calculated after the fact by “models”.
If we want to talk about the WHO and CDC pumping numbers up to get funding that’s a prime time example.
