Still waiting on you to give examples from last 10 pages of fear porn or your qualifications showing you are a better source than the officials making these decisions. Oh, and this post shows your general ignorance of reporting.

Also, considering the incubation period, by the time the virus was already spreading in Italy but before it started being noticed, many Italians would have flown to America for work, family, tourism etc.
Looking at a viral outbreak is like looking at a star. You are looking back in time

Right, because we want our government to strive to be more like China. Come on man, I'm not saying he shouldn't have taken additional steps to get ahead of this, but anything he did was going to be heavily criticized by the media.
Did I ever once say he should have done the things China did?
Please go back and reread when step I said he could have taken and what he should have done if he was attacked for required testing.
Also, boo hoo if he got attacked. He's the President. It's part of the job. A minimum of 40% of the country automatically hates you no matter what you do as President. The potential of negative press is not an excuse for how poorly the response to CV has been.

So he’s justified in letting this thing spiral out of control bc he would’ve been criticized by taking action?

Question for the medical professionals...my wife went to a local hospital in North Austin today (Austin claims no cases - I’ve heard of numerous from friends at various offices...IBM, Dell, startups, etc.) as she had to see her grandmother (non-corona related). The entire staff was essentially decked out in body suits, rubber gloves and masks. Is that all preventative or does that likely suggest they’re treating patients already?

People have been saying he should be doing the things I talked about concerning prep for a long time now. They also recoiled every time he came out and foolishly said things like "the virus is contained" when it clearly wasn't. Go back and read through the thread.

Has it spiraled out of control? I guess it may seem that way with all the closures posted since yesterday but that was in response to 2 NBA players testing positive right before tipoff with a live crowd. The virus isn’t out of control at all.
The biggest issues is the lack of test kits and that’s on the CDC, nit Trump.

Arkansas Department of Health officials on Thursday said that state’s first patient presumed to have the new coronavirus “likely” contracted the illness during a trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras.
So maybe I should be more concerned about this respiratory thing I’ve had since Mardi Gras?

Someone said doubling every two days. That’s when it was at its peak in China and Italy. Not realistic for here. Average has been 6-7 days. Which is relatively typical for growth Depending on the cluster and the demographics of the cluster, spikes can happen and so can “dips”

I wouldn't say it's exactly in control either, though.
I don't really blame Trump for it, the CDC has really dropped the ball. I think Trump could be better with his Twitter messaging but that's kind of expected from him at this point.

Wow anything to protect your president. The buck stops at Trump. The CDC has only tested 77 people this week as this thing begins to explode.

No they don't. Many here are obviously pulling for COVID-19 in this battle
It's the people like you that are doing that by saying we should continue as normal as if it were nothing.

All he really would have had to do to nip the majority of the negative headlines in the bud would have been to point to China straight up bulldozing all roads to Wuhan, welding people into homes, arresting anyone who tried to leave, and spraying down their streets with bleach to stop the spread. Then once it slammed the frick out of Italy he'd have locked up his reelection overnight.
Him coming out and acting like this is the flu and a nothing burger was so dumb. "Already contained" I was like why is he doing this?

I’m sorry is trump not in charge of the CDC? Obviously he does very little in their day to day operations, but when there’s a potential global pandemic it’s his job to get involved and make sure shite gets done right.
And it’s out of control in the sense that we have no fricking clue what’s going on. There’s no standardized testing or testing procedures, there’s conflicting reports coming from all over. And that’s causing the panic

Is it accurate to say that these mass shutdowns aren’t meant to protect people’s health, but to ensure the medical system has the capacity to treat everyone who needs treatment when the time comes?
My twin sister, very healthy, says she is now scared for her health because she is hearing about what Italy did
I told her Italy did what it did to decrease potential icu demand
Hope I didn’t falsely reassure her

Lol. What? I clearly stated a couple pages back that I cringed when he went on tv saying this was under control. Clearly there wasn’t enough data yet for that assertion.
But the CDC refusing to use WHO text kits then bungling their own led to a mass shortage that we still haven’t completed corrected and would have helped us stay in front of this like S Korea did.
But you go ahead and stay ignorantly focused on blaming Trump when the reason we haven’t tested more people is due to the CDC test creation delay and rolling out tests that don’t work.
