Twisting numbers? It’s a fact.

In case you haven't noticed there's nothing worth anything in this thread. Anything important has its own independent thread.

People don't remember H1N1 because people didn't act like this when in reality the reaction to the two situations should be flipped.
quote:
The global spread of H1N1 was observed by public health authorities and conveyed by the media. In the beginning, horrendous figures on mortality were discussed, but were found to be wrong later on.6 In Italy, the H1N1 pandemic was responsible for 260 reported deaths caused by complications stemming from pandemic influenza and 5.600.000 cases of influenza-like illness between week 31 of 2009 and week 17 of 2010.7

Italy will likely cross 1,000 deaths today and is currently committing economic suicide to try and stop the spread. So, yea, just like H1N1.

What’s a fact?
That 0.5% of swine flu cases required HOSPITALIZATION
It’s not comparable to
10-15% of cases requiring hospitalization and
5% needing critical care.
You still haven’t told me what percentage of swine flu cases required critical care.

The main difference between swine and covid19 is who it impacts most. Swine went have the working age people. 15-55 were most affected. Covid spares that group and goes after the elderly. They are most likely to die from ANY illness. There’s your difference.

It is also more contagious. The numbers will be crazy when this is all said and done.

quote:Now who is twisting shite? Those percentages are based on reported cases. We know for a fact we are missing thousands of mild cases being reported and counted. That number could be huge and significantly bring down all of the apocalyptic percentages being thrown around.

Welp our offices have been shutdown globally. All told to go work from home for the next few weeks

Ok. Cut them in half. Shite take 25% of that estimate.
It’s still magnitudes higher than anything seen from H1N1. Everything you are seeing happen supports that. You are in denial.
Posted on 3/12/20 at 11:49 am to WaWaWeeWa
Well just got the orders to work from home for the next two weeks.
Posted on 3/12/20 at 11:50 am to WaWaWeeWa
You know it’s not just half or 25%. There’s a good chance we have only tested and reported a tenth of the cases at most. That’s way more likely than 25%

What. The. frick. Are you talking about?
There is ZERO evidence of that. Not in the cruise ships and not in the extensive testing that Korea has done. Korea was testing everyone. Even asymptomatic babies.
You are making shite up
Stop

Y’all want to save the most lives?
Take steps to protect the elderly. As far as the rest of us, there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to go about things as usual taking steps we would normally take if we caught a virus. Stay home and chill till it’s over. Wash hands. Etc. that alone keeps this thing from killing hundreds of thousands which is apparently what every panicked bitch seems to think.

This is comical. You and The Boat think you’re smarter than people who have dedicated their entire life to studying infectious diseases. Peak Tigerdroppings.
Why don’t you call up Italy and tell them to lift their nation wide quarantine? They’re just being pussies, H1N1 was so much worse. It’s not like Italy is shutting down their entire economy for at least a month to try to slow down the spread of this thing..
