Am I the only one that feels that there’s information out there that’s being withheld to keep panic to a minimum?
Panic is at a high level now. Just went to store for crap for teacher appreciation. People everywhere buying paper products.

But he’s in that position and you’re here posting on Tigerdroppings. I mean, he may not be infallible, but you think he got there by being lucky or they just wanted to give the job to just anyone?
Read his work specific to novel viruses and get back to me.
I've read it.

With that said, I’m not panicking about anything, but it’s funny to me that Slackster Tigerdroppings poster is insinuates that he knows more about what’s going on with a “world pandemic,” than a professional and is “world renowned.”
Someone might need to get over themselves.
You don't know a damn thing about his background.
His expertise is risk analysis, specifically in financial markets. He's renowned in that area for his call surrounding the financial crisis. His entire argument on novel viruses is that you never know which one will wipe out humans, so every new one should be treated as though it's the "one" until proven otherwise.
It's completely impractical and has no real world application, but feel free to argue otherwise.

It’s your story, tell it like you want.
But you’re still here and he’s still there.

I flew through Newark today and there was a group of about 150-200 high school students leaving for a trip. Bet those parents are losing their shite right about now.
Why? It's barely a common cold for high school aged kids.

I’m guessing they were flying internationally to Europe.

They say the symptoms for most people are mild, but what does that really mean?

For a mediocre virus that everyone claims this to be, there sure are a lot of powerful people making a lot of drastic changes.
Go on with the chlorophyll
I've explained the rationale on here a few times - you've probably only got one shot to stop this virus from becoming endemic. The economic impact of these draconian actions are far more reasonable when measured against the backdrop of a lifetime of a new endemic virus. They make no sense against the individual current threat.

Educate yourself. Some of us were familiar with Taleb before 30 minutes ago.

I understand taking precautions, so don’t freak out people
But is it still not crazy we aren’t basically halting everything for 4,000 worldwide deaths and 40 US deaths
I mean it may all be the right thing, who knows. But on the surface it still sounds insane

Because they can bring it home and infect others who might more more susceptible. I’m not concerned about the initial viral mortality rate. I’m more concerned about it spreading to people who can get very sick and the hospitals become overwhelmed. At any point it becomes dangerous to every person who need care in the hospital if there aren’t beds or healthcare workers available to assist.

That's one of the hardest things to do. You want the precautions and people to follow them, but you've got a lot of idiots to deal with. You've got people that are flipping their shite and panicking at any little thing vs the stubborn people that believe this is a NWO conspiracy to implement a one world government.

It is insane on the surface. No way to argue otherwise.
However, if you think a little deeper, it makes sense. It's not about the current impact - it's about the cumulative impact if it becomes endemic.

literally received that in a group message from a doctor relative.
That’s scary if true. I highly doubt a doctor sent that. It reads like a chain email from some grandpa’s AOL account. And 50% of it is complete garbage.
