Exclusive: White House told federal health agency to classify coronavirus deliberations - sources

I see a lot of people claiming that Trump is trying to hide something by classifying these briefings. The more likely reason is that top military intelligence is being shared about what is really going on in certain countries.

A looming shortage in lab materials is threatening to delay coronavirus test results and cause officials to undercount the number of Americans with the virus.
CDC Director Robert Redfield told POLITICO on Tuesday that he is not confident that U.S. labs have an adequate stock of the supplies used to extract genetic material from any virus in a patient’s sample — a critical step in coronavirus testing.

I think he’s trying to say the H1N1 strand hit the workforce age much harder than the current coronavirus.
Well that’s not a comparison. But I agree with your point.
So we are saying the mortality rate for swine flu was 12,470/61,000,000 or 0.02%?

Yep. I was never trying to compare those rates. The key is the hospitalizations since that’s where everyone’s concern is. You had close to 300k extra hospitalizations that year. It didn’t break our system. Good news.

How serious is the coronavirus?

There was a time when the ones responsible for piss poor decision making were tarred and feathered and dragged through the streets.

not very but you wouldn't think that just by going off this hysterical thread

I heard, on good authority, that drinking water from the LSU Lakes has healing properties.

Are those US numbers or world numbers?
What percentage needed ICU and intubation?
The overall numbers over long periods of time are not the problem. It’s short term localized spikes. In a community that has no immunity.
quote:
Recent studies suggest that the current decreased impact on the elderly may be the result of immunity acquired through prior exposure to similar H1N1 viruses circulating prior to 1957and/or to vaccination with H1N1 swine flu vaccine in 1976
So the most vulnerable portion of the population has immunity to the swine flu. That certainly helps your system continue to function.

Yes, and no.
It was stated during the early days of the outbreak in China that the US was possibly using spies to gather accurate information in that country.
It had since been stated that we are doing the same with other countries, such as Iran and Russia.
Preserving those channels/sources would be a priority in such briefings.

You can’t use Chinese numbers as support for the idea that everything will be fine while also advocating that no heightened measures be taken.
The Chinese numbers are leveling out bc they instituted draconian measures to stop the spread. Italy is the best example of a country unwilling to go that far. You see what’s happening
