Now that I think about it, now that I’ve had the flu I’m even less likely to get covid19. By a lot according to what tigerskin posted. So I’m definitely less likely to die from it now. I forgot who asked me earlier.

When Do you remember this type of actual reaction around the globe? Actual school districts shutting down, travel bans, quarantines, etc.
Obviously, this is something that has experts and governments concerned.

For physicians handicapped by lack of testing.Study showed very good results with chest CT
“In a study of more than 1,000 patients published in the journal Radiology, chest CT outperformed lab testing in the diagnosis of 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19)”

Surgeon general says mortality rate of CV19 is *LOWER* than the flu for those aged 0-20
Not that is is reassuring for old people

Yea tell me about the other cold outbreaks and how we should use the same “requirements” as those outbreaks
Better yet don’t. Instead why don’t you think about how you will be working from home when the cases start rolling in and how some of the posters here will be directly taking care of patients with this virus, exposing themselves and their families to it. Posters who know what ARDS and a paralyzed patient on a ventilator look like in person, not a number on a graph.
So from everyone here who will be in that position, kindly shut the frick up.

There’s no need to be upset wewawewa. This is less deadly than the flu for people under 20. Your family at home will be fine.

What are your thoughts on fomite transfer? I imagine we will get some of the pts from Diamond Princess. I should be able to avoid direct pt care but will be working in the same department as the infected pts. I can’t find clear info on fomite transfer just ranges based on other enveloped viruses. Any suggestions you have I would love to hear.
I haven’t seen enough in the literature I’ve read to say for sure. Volvagia might know
How are you holding up over there? Are people still hoarding the PPE gear or did they get all that straightened out?

For fcks sake, can we please let this thread be about updates and information sharing instead of you all having a circle jerk about who is more correct?

From the presser:
Still can't tell you (or refuse to tell you) how many people have been tested.
Embarrassing

That’s not really what he meant. Several pages back he even said this would be a shitty bioweapon because of the low death rate in response to the poster saying this could be a bioweapon.
It would only be a shitty bioweapon if the goal was to kill. It would be a successful bioweapon if the goal were to disrupt global markets and destabilize developed countries. Notice the low instances in South America and Africa. No need to destabilize those places.
I'm in no way saying this bioterrorism. Just saying that if it were, they did a damn good job.

You can give out relevant information and discuss it, but when you resort to stating that everyone who objects to it being the plague will recognize that you were right once they start seeing their loved ones dying and can’t leave their homes, you have jumped the shark.
Just calm down.

We are beyond that now. You have to post your profession and if it’s not medical related you have to leave. Unless you are asking for advice from our board experts.

Another doctor in critical condition
“KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (CBS) — A Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia cardiologist at the King of Prussia Specialty Care site is currently hospitalized after testing positive for coronavirus. Montgomery County officials say the man contracted the virus while traveling abroad to where COVID-19 is active. A source says he was in Egypt where he may have gotten infected. Now, several schools are closing this week after students and staff might have been exposed while at the facility.
The Upper Merion resident is currently in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.“

Keep trying to convince yourself and random posters on the internet that you're a serious badass

You’re still cluttering this thread with your shite? There are a lot of people trying to share and get information here. You’re providing neither.

That’s a hell of a city name.

No it’s under lock and key. N95 only for the RN caring for a confirmed pt. PAPR for anesthesia or whomever intubates. The rest of us have been asked to not wear masks at all so pts aren’t scared. Between our 2 facilities we have over 100 nurses quarantined and there is some talk about pulling us to help staff the ED/ICU. The RNs who care for the confirmed pts work only with that pt for their workweek then quarantine at home for their off days and come back to the same pt. It’s an attempt to stem the flow of staff to quarantine. Our school district is not closed yet but others in the area are. You can’t get some supplies at the stores but that is everywhere I guess.
