I hate that it has been hijacked by assholes that are hellbent on carrying a torch for a political party.

I was right. Presser right at the bottom of the hour

That is fine, and most of us are very aware of the low risk of a bad outcome if we acquire. However some of us have children that are susceptible to respiratory issues(in my case a 10 year old born with issues) and elderly parents that have issues.
So, don't mistake everyones concern for being sky screamers.

Off the top of my head I can think of 12 friends and relatives with compromised immune systems, I am 59 btw. I was kind of blase about it until I thought about this.

I don’t. Those who have reason to concern themselves with any other UR virus, should have equal concern for this one. And I get wanting to make sure that those in charge take precautions as needed as should you. But honestly, I don’t think it requires anything more than any other corona outbreak. Just do what you would normally do to protect from a UR virus.

If the average age of death from this thing is 80, that’s pretty damn high.

Are you routinely exposed to people with viral infections as a physicist?

Please tell us more about the other corona outbreaks that you know of and what they “required”

That was partially a joke. I used to be one. That was my major. Now I’m in Nuclear cyber security. I have a young son. He brings home everything and is nice enough to share it with his family. He and I both got the flu this year.

Right after you tell us how Ebola and swine flu affected life in America and how this is any different.

Oh my. Now you’ve put me on the spot. Let’s see...
Hopefully a little more than swine flu and at a faster pace here in the US. That seems to be happening thankfully. Ebola was never really an issue here. Bird flu neither. Of course, there wasn’t this type of hysteria for those two with everyone thinking they needed to call a hotline to get tested.
But most are just cold versions with nothing needed to be done. This one is closer to swine. And there’s enough attention for a vaccine to get made just like h1n1 (swine).

What are your thoughts on fomite transfer? I imagine we will get some of the pts from Diamond Princess. I should be able to avoid direct pt care but will be working in the same department as the infected pts. I can’t find clear info on fomite transfer just ranges based on other enveloped viruses. Any suggestions you have I would love to hear.

Looks like WH and congress will be working out a plan that includes payroll tax cut and relief for small businesses and industries most affected
