So which Florida theme park closes first, Disney or Universal?

I don't think Disney would close even if 28 Days Later happened.

No. He has a link with a translation, though.

Main part of an email Vanderbilt Health just sent out.

quote:

Vanderbilt University Medical Center now has a dedicated hotline for its patients and employees who are concerned they could be ill with the disease COVID-19, which is caused by the novel coronavirus.

This number is (888) 312-0847. This line is active seven days a week, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. More information about the hotline.

Before calling, please consider that if you do not have symptoms and would not ordinarily see your doctor based on how you feel now, you do not need evaluation or testing for COVID-19.

At this time, VUMC clinicians will not test patients for COVID-19 who are not exhibiting symptoms of fever, cough and difficulty breathing.

However, if you are a VUMC patient or employee and feel that you are ill, please call the hotline at (888) 312-0847 to be screened.

If you have respiratory symptoms (cough, sneezing, difficulty breathing), please call any clinic before you arrive, so that you can be given a mask before entering the facility.

So no tests still unless you are struggling to breathe.

Difficulty breathing =/= struggling to breathe IMO

Disney would figure out how to monetize a Coronavirus-themed ride before they would close the Park.

Putin picked a hell of a time to get into a tiff with KSA.

Seems well planned to me. Putin can only benefit from global economic collapse. Then everyone's economies will be as shitty as Russia's.

Putin can then say that democracy/capitalism didn't protect these countries. Meanwhile, he can lie/downplay the outbreak in Russia to enforce the greatness of Russia. Putin knows how to twist every tragedy to his advantage.

From an ER doc in New Orleans:

quote:

I have seen multiple high risk patients --And we CAN NOT test anyone !

For example

I had a pt yesterday.

45 yo m with no prior travel history, no previous lung disease - presents w

FEVER/Shortness of breath / Hypoxia / Bilateral wheezing

WBC- Normal

flu test - Neg

Chest xray - BILATERAL lower PNEUMONIA!

I called the CDC 3x!!!!

they refused to test him because -- he has not travelled to asia or endemic area!

They also state they will only test him or others, who do not travel to endemic areas , if they have Respiratory failure !

we are not an ENDEMIC area bc we DO NOT test!

The CDC's incompetence is a large party of the what's causing the panic. They're a fricking joke just like any other federal department.

What is the resistance to test? Are we just that short on testing kits?

The resistance to me is that we screwed it up so bad from the beginning that they are scared if we all of a sudden start testing, the numbers will significantly increase and cause mass panic. Also, tons of people will flood urgent cares and hospitals to be tested even if they just have a cold.

ER docs don't have the ability to do that. The tests are run at CDC or state labs with CDC oversight. It's not like a flu test that they can run in house.

If you are truly concerned about it, lying about travel initially might not be the worst thing.

I’m assuming that the doc can still treat as if it was the virus and ventilate if needed.

I mean my understanding is that there is no real treatment other than provide fluids, fever reducer and airway if needed?

CNBC has a lab Corp rep saying that they are running tests — said if md feels test warranted they’ll run it. Not sure what area she’s from. Just said all states can send samples to lab Corp.

3/4 day turnaround. Cost is ?? — CMS working on it.

I do wonder how much of this is going on. I was sick this weekend with a cough and a fever that lasted less than 24 hours. I have a background in the medical field so I knew I was fine but I can imagine somebody without any knowledge freaking out about something like that.

Good point, but have you ever been to Yellowstone in the Spring/Summer? It's the Disneyworld of National Parks. And it fills up with Asians.
