I’ll pay someone with Covid $100 to sneeze in my mouth so I can get out ahead of this and build an immunity.

To be honest, the current productivity of Chinese factories depend on where they are located, what kind of goods they produce, and whether or not the workers can be held in dorms separate from the rest of the population.
Thus, I have no doubt the factories you deal with are operating. However, my contacts in China, especially the ones in and near Hubei province, also tell me that there are a lot of false narratives of recovery being promoted by the Chinese government.

Jazz Fest needs the local authorities to cancel the event to trigger their cancellation insurance. Thats if they purchased the infectious disease add on. A lot of insurance companies started excluding Coronavirus from policies at the end of December. If Jazz Fest isn't covered at least the authorities shutting it down gives them some Force Majuere protection on their artists contracts.

The death toll from novel coronavirus in Italy surged today, marking the highest daily increase since the start of the virus outbreak in the country.
Angelo Borrelli, head of the Italian Civil Protection Agency, said today that 49 people had died in the last day, bringing the country wide death toll to 197.
The total number of confirmed cases in Italy rose by 778 on Friday, bringing the total number in the country to 4,636.
Borrelli said the median age of the people who have died from the virus in Italy is 81 years of age.

That wasn’t a knee jerk assessment.
In that time period, 45 million people were infected with with flu.
This accounts for around 14% of the total US population.
I then simply applied the numbers from the WHO that “nothing burger” proponent MrLSU used to cite how insignificant it is:
LINK
To the actual US census population data, assuming only 14% of them became infected. Be aware both swine flu and 1918 pandemics achieved significantly higher levels of penetration so this is an extremely conservative given.
Year by year, assuming a linear relationship between mortality data points.
Note I didn’t even “model” infections by anyone below the age of 60. To get to the figure I meationed requires not a single death by anyone below that age.
I feel like there may be people being forced to redefine what a “nothing burger” in perspective is in about 2 months time.
For fricks sake people, you don’t have to be panicking and raiding Costco to realize that the flu doesn’t:
-Cut through nursing homes annually leaving a tenth of residents dead (and still counting, still several critical patients and more are emerging as symptomatic)
-It doesn’t cause rushes on medical facilities, enough so that people are dying at home waiting to see a triage nurse like what’s happening in Italy and SK
This waiting list in SK is thousands long.
This virus clearly has distinct behavior from the flu, with enough proven evidence to not be dismissive of it.
And if you disagree on that, even if you want to claim it’s the same as the flu, you still have one unarguable difference between the two still: there is no vaccine, no method anymore to realistically slow the spread or to shield the most vurnerable.
That’s my point.
I’m not predicting a million US dead. It’s that people just keep showing their ignorance using “muh flu” as a comparison when there isn’t a honest one to be made.

Want to bet? No way they go forward when Ultra and SXSW chose not to. The publicity should there be an outbreak when others cancelled and then went forward would be epic
And what have I said in this thread to ever drive panic. I’ve been accused of not taking it seriously
