So the China statistics are what you want to use?
The mortality rate is 3.6% now for China cases. As the infection rate went down the death rate stayed stable as it caught up.
So explain to us again how this is a big nothing burger when the stats you are using show a 3.6% mortality rate
I’m sure you will have a bunch of caveats about the data you picked.

SARS had a mortality rate of ~10%
MERS was ~30%
Both of these rates were calculated well after the panic and hysteria of the outbreaks occurred.
This virus is in the same family. It’s uses the spike protein and ACE2 to enter the cell. We are dealing with a much milder version but it hasn’t surprised any expert to see the current mortality rates.
Everyone has an opinion but you seem to think your is supported by facts when it’s not.

So my state, PA, just got authorization to run tests at its state lab. We can do up to six tests per day baby! Yes, I said six. 6.

@davidwade · 1h This is unbelievable. The 1st person with Coronavirus in NH- a hospital worker- was told to self-quarantine. Instead, the person went to a private event last Friday. A 2nd person- who was in contact- now is presumed to have it. Everyone at that event is being contacted.
The spread of this will be faster because we have idiots like this.

This is exactly why a healthy amount of respect for this virus is important. Going around saying it’s just the flu can be dangerous. The average person doesn’t get the flu shot, they have zero respect for the flu.

The Arnold, one of the largest sports expos, just cancelled the expo portion and is not allowing an audience during any of their sporting events.

Ohio Governor cancelled the Arnold Classic Expo for fans this upcoming weekend. Fans can still attend the finals. Pretty smart decision IMO. 100,000+ people visit that Expo every single year.
My wife and I already conceded it would be in our backyard soon after this weekend, but hopefully this keeps it out for a bit longer.

Update comparison of Coronavirus vs Flu in the US. 3/3/20
Coronavirus infections in the US= 122
Coronavirus deaths in the US= 9
Flu infections in the US= 30,000,000
Flu deaths in the US= 16,000
Man this is close.

The flu statistics have been thoroughly debunked.
Unless you want to plug the coronavirus numbers into the same “model” for flu deaths then the numbers are meaningless

Reminds of that fricking a-hole who had just treated a person for Ebola and left Texas on a commercial flight to Ohio for a wedding dress fitting. She ended up having it and the wedding shop she went to was so stigmatized the damn thing went out of business.

It’s official. We were told the office will be shutting down for two weeks and everyone has to work from home.

How many people you think spread it today standing in lines to vote?
A lot of my colleagues are flying to a conference next week that didn’t get canceled.
There are people coming in from around the world. Yeah frick that. I wouldn’t go
