From WHO twitter:
"Globally, about 3.4% of reported #COVID19 cases have died. By comparison, seasonal flu generally kills far fewer than 1% of those infected"- @DrTedros #coronavirus
The WHO has also said that truly asymptomatic cases are around 1% and that most "asymptomatic" cases eventually transition to illness.

The WHO has said a lot of crap thus far. Where is this data?

Same argument that China has like 2 flu deaths, but the US has tens of thousands.
That topic has been beat to death in this thread from every side but good luck finding the quality post explaining it rationally (there are a number of them that provide really useful information but they are buried in this thread that doesn't even reference COVID19 in the title

WHO is too busy telling people how to talk about COVID in a non-offensive way that doesn't assign blame.

So you’re comparing a reported number vs a total infections number. Solid info there.
There are certainly undiagnosed cases
There are also certainly recently diagnosed cases or critical cases that will die
Why do you only see it one way? I think the mortality rate will come down some but that assuming healthcare systems can keep up. Either way, the amount the mortality rate would have to come down to be “just another flu” is massive.

I got destroyed for saying this the other day. It makes sense, but most will look at the contrary and say it’s misrepresentation of data or an overreaction.
We have immunity from seasonal flu strains over several strains, while there is absolutely zero immunity Built up for this virus. It may not wipe out our species, but this is proving to be an issue especially with the elderly.

They reference the data in the China report and the data obtained by other countries. I had no opinion of the WHO before this event but they do appear to have some really good doctors/researchers/etc working on this issue. Obviously, they are also having to deal with wildlly different political agendas across the impacted countries.

Professional sports events in Spain where large numbers of fans from coronavirus-hit areas are expected will be played behind closed doors, with no spectators, the country’s health minister announced Tuesday.
The move will affect the March 10 Champions League match between Valencia and Atalanta, as well as a March 19 match featuring Getafe and Inter Milan.

I’ll go out on a limb and even say it probably won’t

The mortality rate is going to come way down. Like way, way down. The infected number is far higher than known, because to most it feels like a bad cold or possible flu. You do not get the coronavirus and then suddenly fall over with blood running from your eyes.
This virus is deadly to the elderly and others with weak immune systems. The deaths in these people could easily be triggered by the flu as well.
Now everyone back to fear mongering

Total infections number doesn’t exist.

It is currently accepted South Korea has done the most proactive testing. The mortality rate in SK stands at 0.53%. That is quite a different number than the 3% mortality rate. There is an 85% drop in mortality rates between China and South Korea.

US reporting 6 deaths and only 60 confirmed cases is nearing absurd.

7th death from the Washington nursing home reported. This death was actually the first but was just confirmed to be covid19.

Easy one to go on, when you take out of context what I said after that.

Probably because most Americans who actually have the disease think it's the flu and are just staying home, keeping hydrated, and taking Motrin until they no longer have a fever.
