re: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) ***W.H.O. DECLARES A GLOBAL PANDEMIC***

Those raw numbers would mean more if it wasn’t as contagious as it is, but since it is as contagious or more contagious than the flu and it’s just a matter of time before it becomes widespread, the rates are what really matter. Corona is significantly more dangerous than flu.
I've pointed out many times why the rates are useless. SARS was both more contagious and had a higher fatality rate, and it didn't break 1000 global deaths.
Let's get this out of the way - you seem to be implying coronavirus will kill 10,000+ Americans. Can you clear that up for me?

I’m not saying you should go in your bunker and lock the door, but there is plenty of reason for a least moderate concern over what impact this will have in the US, plenty of reason to stay tuned in and make preparations as the virus is almost certainly going to reach all of our areas.
FWIW, I’m my opinion especially after yesterday it’s prudent for everyone to prepare by having at least 2 weeks of food at home.
But not because of the virus might do, but because of fallout from reactionary hysteria. We might be only 2-3 weeks out from the first US school district closing, and if nothing else there will be a run on grocery stores.

Patient recoveries are starting to outpace new cases
Nation could show the virus is not as deadly as feared
This reads like the notification on Pandemic 2/Plague Inc. to let you know you've lost

I’m starting to think it’s some kind of coping mechanism to “look at the raw numbers”. But I guess everyone’s different.

as I've pointed out many times in this thread, any attempts to frame it as anything less than apocalyptic are met with quite a bit of criticism.

Hawaii Given Green Light To Set Up Local Coronavirus Testing
quote:
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has given Hawaii the go-ahead to start preparing for coronavirus testing locally, a process that could begin as early as next week.
The CDC sent Hawaii testing kits at the beginning of the month. But those were discovered to be defective.
quote:
Hawaii has sent no suspected coronavirus samples to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, raising questions about whether health officials were taking enough steps to prevent the spread of the illness in the islands.
quote:
No one in Hawaii has met the conditions, although doctors have sent the state health department samples taken from patients suspected of having the virus.
“Some of these specimens that get submitted, maybe they have the travel history, but they either have no symptoms when we follow up — so basically just someone who really insisted on getting tested. We are not doing that kind of testing,” she said. “[People] may have no fever, but they might have a cough — that doesn’t fall into a person under investigation.”

Great news. Is there any information about what they are doing differently? I think the weather is warmer there too.

Well, let’s look at the positives:
Far less traffic
Lower interest rates

I just don’t think current deaths in this country gives an accurate picture of the problem. First, we were waiting to see numbers outside of China. Now I guess we are waiting to see actual number of deaths in the US. Everyone will evaluate the situation differently I guess. That’s fine.

I would rather read the National Enquirer then argue China numbers. S. Korea is overwhelmed so I’m sure they are no longer accurate so Italy is solid numbers.

The question then is what does that look like in 1 yr, 5 yrs, 10 yrs?
Hopefully if the multiple initial promising vaccines come to fruition we won't have to worry about it as much.

How long till we have live reports on the lines from Sams, Costco and Walmart? It will probably be a ticker at the bottom of the tv screen.

I saw a doctor from New York on CNBC this morning responding to a question about potential warmer weather in the Spring/Summer limiting the spread of Coronavirus say that it is not happening that way necessarily in Singapore, but perhaps this is playing into why patient recoveries are starting to outpace new cases?

We have already had several schools in Texas close because of the flu. Nobody freaked out.

I might make a report tomorrow if I don't decide to wait until Sunday to make my regular Sam's run. It might be a mad house on Saturday.
Plus those gubmint checks will be coming out this weekend.

Yeah - they do not live in a crappy country.

How is a graph fear mongering?
There are people who can look at and evaluate the data without panicking. I’m not going to go down this road with you. You’ve already made up your mind and labeled everyone.
