Yea, idk I’m pretty skeptical of this as well. There was more to the message too, but my wife read it to me since it was in Japanese and since I can’t directly translate it. Mentioned drinking other warm drinks, tea, ginger, etc. classic Chinese stuff. I’m not offended if you think he’s a moron. Idk this guy and I think eastern medicine is typically bs and they tend to have trouble separating myth from fact. But I thought it was an interesting thing to share considering the source

Thanks for sharing. Like I said I didn’t mean to insult him. I imagine he was probably saying to use standard common cold remedies, but not that it would kill the virus. I assume that was lost in translation. Hopefully what he said applies to the weather though

What are the chances this thing takes years and years to go away?

It’ll never go away.

It’ll just become less relevant.

The time frame for that IMO is in the 4-6 month from now window.

If true, then how is it spreading so rapidly? Do people just go around spitting on doorknobs?

If the cruise ship is any indication, I’m going with recirculating air systems like Legionnaires.

Except that wasn’t caused by a recirculating air system, but one that the air system itself was the source.

It’s not true. We have ample sources indicating otherwise that doesn’t use the MIL’s friend’s nephew as a data channel.

How did it get into the air system?

I know. More of a rhetorical question.

Btw, I don’t eat beans. Think a two week supply of spaghettios and franks will suffice?

Another death in the ship group, 4 more in South Korea, another in Italy, more in Iran.

These numbers seem significantly different than what we are seeing in Hong Kong and Singapore.

It didn't. Legionella is a bacteria that was part of a poorly controlled cooling tower (Poor bio-control). The drift from the hotel's cooling tower was covering the Legionnaires that were gathering in front of the hotel.

It's still not clear, to me at least, how these cases are being confirmed globally, how widespread the testing is in various regions, or what criteria are being used to administer a test in the first place. Obviously the level of care is very important in critical cases and that varies widely around the world.

It’s endemic in nature. Literally no way to know how. It could be as simple as someone setting a tool in the dirt outside and then touching the drip basin inside. It certainly wasn’t a cough droplet getting sucked in and condensing on the coils though.

The point that using a disease without as far as I know a single demonstrated person to person infection is a very bad example of “recirculating air” dangers. I can be in a plane full of overtly symptomatic individuals with it for six hours and I wouldn’t get infected.

You get infected by a contaminated water source (drip basin, cooling towers pools, tap water) getting heavily aersolized and breathing in the mist.

Drinking it doesn’t do it.

As a result, modern AC system take measures to not allowing that to happen, either by design or water treatment.

I had forgotten that detail.

The AC system that was contaminated wasn’t even the one for the building the legionaries were in. The mist drifted down on the ones outside and downwind.

Pffft I’m the same as you. Loathe beans.

Eggs make for an awesome cheap protein source that stays good for a long while.

So break up the spaghettos with fried rice.
