The pessimist in me just sees this as an attempt to justify returning the country to work by the CCP regardless of the situation on the ground.

Really does anyone really believe today's numbers for the rest of the mainland?

But does the international count include the ones that are popping up on the cruise ship? That's a big cluster that could overshadow most numbers elsewhere.

It's not unreasonable to doubt official data from anywhere on the planet. The problems include complexity of collecting population data, cost, incompetence or indifference, and outright fudging. The more important the issue, the less chance of full and accurate disclosure to the public in a timely manner. Anyone who doubts that hasn't studied much history on any subject.

Why would people waste their time? It seems like you made up your mind.

We'll see. It's got a long, long way to go to have the impact of the swine flu in North America.

An example of deaths in a Wuhan family

It's easy to dismiss stories of multiple deaths in a family when no one knows them and it might be negative propaganda against the current Chinese regime.

The linked article from Variety is based on communications from a known Chinese Film Director and it describes the order in which his family members sickened and died. If you depend on your film industry contacts in Hollywood, you would have no reason to lie about your upcoming and your family's death.

It just sounds horribly terminal and hopeless.

Taiwan Press reporst reinfections with associated heart failure

quote:

"It's highly possible to get infected a second time," a doctor told the Taiwan News. "A few people recovered from the first time by their own immune system, but the meds they use are damaging their heart tissue, and when they get it the second time, the antibody doesn't help but makes it worse, and they die a sudden death from heart failure."

Taiwan Post article names names of Drs. sourcing some of the information. It sounds as if the late Dr. Li was a source.

I think it’s time for the president to call Mr. Xi and tell him, not ask, that the CDC is coming in to see what the frick is going on

Eventually, this will work out to everyone getting either a separate Corono and Flu shot each year, or a combo.

Have you seen the graphic showing infections and deaths over time comparing the two?

There is no vaccine. SARS which is the same type of virus was in 2003 and there still isn’t a vaccine

I know things can pass easier in confined spaces like a cruise ship... but the spread on that ship is concerning. I wonder if setting up some UV lighting in interior halls/cabins would have helped.

Real question to me is, how many other cruise ships are out there spreading this thing to every person onboard.

How confined are most Chinese cities? Most Chinese don’t practice basic sanitation like washing hands - many restaurants supposedly don’t even carry soap according to one former China resident blogger, but we are supposed to believe an isolated ship has more cases than China ex-Hubei?
