Even if they're teatestinf at capacity each day, it's somewhat promising the confirmed cases in Hubei have gone done a couple days in a row now.
You've got to be a special kind of stupid to believe the Chinese communist party's official numbers.
Watch what they're actually doing, not what they're saying and you can get a better idea of how widespread and dangerous this disease is.

I don’t understand how this thing is going wild in China and is basically stagnant elsewhere except for a case here or there
It’s even tighter than that: fatality rate within China outside of Wuhan/Hubei is basically zero.

Don’t forget completely ignore what it’s doing elsewhere.
That’s very important.
It’s starting to look more and more like the guy in charge of this is afraid of meeting the fate of his predecessor so he’s over reacting.
Argument to be made his containment actions are killing more than virus.

#Wuhan residents required as of today (Friday in #China) to report their body temperature daily to authorities. Local police, community leaders, and property management will assist. (You report yourself or they come to your door.) If you have a fever, you’re taken to hospital.

I wouldn't want to be on those cruise ships right now.

Do we know what its like on the ship? Did they bring containment equip on board or are they just going about business as usual waiting to be let off?

I saw an interview with a British couple and they said they are confined to their rooms and not allowed out.

As I've asked plenty of times in this thread, how do you explain the rest of the world?

Certain diseases are believed to be more common among Jews because of the so-called founder effect, in which genetic diversity is reduced when a population descends from a small number of common ancestors. Moreover, since Jews historically have tended to marry only Jews, those mutations weren’t passed along to other groups, and they weren’t lessened by the introduction of new genes.

Perhaps it was a biological agent and it was put into food or delivered by spray at the market. Something just doesn’t add up in my mind. I agree the infection variance between source providence and the rest of the globe is quite pronounced. But isolating 50-60 million people and the other actions being taken by their govt seems odd for only killing 8-900 people.

It’s 5 am in China right now, but many people did not sleep tonight — hashtag “I want freedom of speech” started to trend on Weibo from 1 am and now has nearly 2 million views.

While hashtag ”we want freedom of speech” got censored, ”we DEMAND freedom of speech” started trending. The popularity of the topic began to surge from 6 am in China, around when the other hashtag got censored. It got ~3 million views. h/t @shenlulushen
Now it's also censored.

The cruise ship off Tokyo has had a huge increase in number of confirmed cases in the two days since I saw a total (was less than five then).
Worst thing you can be: on an enclosed population with less than perfect hygene. The way Noroviruses spread on cruise ships
A couple of thoughts about the 15 second exposure:
by the time that happened there weren't any buses running so he couldn't have caught it touching public parts of a bus
In cities, people don't walk great distances to get food, they go to the shop/stand they always go to, the closer to their home the better.
We've seen somewhere on this thread the number of minutes of exposure to air that the virus might live on a surface. In Wuhan, there aren't crowds now.
Both of them weren't wearing face masks. And the security cam is scarey good in sharpness of photo which is probably how they got the time.
I really don't want it to be that brief, but short of testing on humans, information collected after infection is confirmed needs to be collected.

One thing is for sure, this will impact us all. China has entire sites where they raise animals dying because the animals are not being fed or watered. China is about to starve and they supply the world with all kinds of supplies. Simply put, the supply chain is about to be fricked up. Get ready.

Nationwide, more than 70 new deaths and 3,100 new cases emerged in the previous 24 hours, the national health authorities said Friday morning.
The new figures brought the total number of deaths in China to at least 636. And the total number of confirmed cases rose to 31,161.
Sixty-nine of the newly reported deaths occurred in Hubei Province, the heart of the outbreak, the authorities said, but there were also four deaths outside of the province: one each in Jilin, Henan, Guangdong and Hainan Provinces.

So were still holding steady at a 2% mortality, with the overwhelmingly vast majority of them occurring in a single province in China, am I understanding that correctly?
