CNN claims that Corona virus causing racism
But In the article:
“In Vietnam, signs have been seen outside restaurants declaring "No Chinese."”
“Similar signs were also posted outside a Japanese shop, turning away Chinese customers.”
Oh, CNN

A little bit of everything
I can talk shop with a lot of esoteric scientific subjects at the drop of a hat, but my formal education is rooted in biochemistry with my professional career being technical services/project management in food R+D/manufacturing

You just made all that shite up.

Yes. Because if I was going to make shite up, food science by way of biochem is the high level target. Especially if my goal was to boost my credentials in this thread.
I guess claiming to work for the CDC would be too obvious.
But thanks for letting me know my career is good enough to be worthy of a made up story I guess?

Burger King?
Close.
We do make stuff for them (we make stuff for everyone, name brand and generic), but the key account I work with is McD.
Actually was in Chicago for a supplier assessment these past few days for the H-H transmission announcement there.

Add another country to the list

We are okay as long as Madagascar, Iceland, and Greenland are clear. Once all three go red, things will go to hell really fast.

Now confirmed in UK. So basically, it can now be assumed that any country that has allowed in visitors from China has the virus?

Two people in the UK have been infected with the Wuhan coronavirus, medical authorities said Friday, the first cases of the virus in the country.

Real quick, how's the pattern setting up for Feb/March? Winter damn near seems done with 70 degree temps showing for mid Feb.

It is going to get bad in Africa.

Call me naive, but I don’t think this thing is as contagious as people think... I just think there would be a whole hell of a lot more cases in the US and Europe if so. So many travelers from China over the past month and only a handful of cases.
Again, likely goes back to sanitation in 1st world countries as opposed to China.

To be fair, the signs were probably there before the outbreak

Yeah, most Asian groups can’t stand the Chinese. The only reason they tolerate is bc of tourism money. I’ve been to VN half a dozen time and not 1 time I heard a local said anything good about the Chinese.

Apparently medical experts in China are telling patients who have recovered to be careful because they could get reinfected.

I thought with this being similar to the flu and a virus the existing antibodies would take care of the coronavirus?
Edit: Johns Hopkins has a nice write up that does suggest reinfection is possible.
LINK
quote:
Most people have anti-coronavirus antibodies, reflecting universal exposure, but reinfection appears common, suggestive that there are many circulating serotypes of the virus in the human population.
Not sure if that is saying reinfection from a new strain of coronavirus or reinfection from the same strain.
