On a good note, its been 7 days since I was in HK and no symptoms... 4 days since Singapore.
I think I may live
We all joke but I guarantee every single one of us would've been at least a LITTLE freaked out in your position. Especially with the sore throat

Have you been tested? are you in self quarantine?
No, not showing signs and don’t want to deal with he bs... You know if I call the doc and say something, its going to turn into a cluster.
I haven’t been to the office since returning and have limited contact. Even wearing a mask and sanitizing non stop around my kid to be 100% safe

Sounds like you're taking all the precautions and I would think you're in clear. Sending prayers and positive vibes!

I’m not worried about me... I’m healthy and would kick its arse. However, others may not be as lucky...
It’s good news that the WHO is skeptical about it being passed while asymptomatic

Look how mad you are when someone puts positive spin on something. Can't even hide it.
Not mad, just pointing out what a silly metric you are using. I want to hear the outbreak is dying down. I am hopeful it doesn’t turn into something terrible.

Not silly at all. The easiet way to tell the trend. The raw numbers are misleading.

Percentage is just not a good way to measure it. Spanish Flu would have seen a drop in percentage of new infections once it hit a certain point even as the total number of infected climbed.
The best way is to show the change in the trajectory curve of infection rate projections... but that takes some level of effort to show that.

774 people died in the SARS outbreak. Are people thinking we'll surpass that number?

I haven’t seen any reputable projections, but I would think that is likely.

Some people are thinking the death toll is already over 1000+
I’m not saying it is. I don’t believe it is either

This paper lays out that the German case appears to have occurred from asymptotic persons.
This paper lays out that the German case appears to have occurred from asymptotic persons.
quote:
“The fact that asymptomatic persons are potential sources of 2019-nCoV infection may warrant a reassessment of transmission dynamics of the current outbreak,” the experts wrote.
quote:
The infection described in the new paper involved a woman from Shanghai who traveled to Germany for a business trip from Jan. 19 to Jan. 22 and displayed no signs of the disease, which include cough and fever. She only became sick on her flight back to China, and was confirmed on Jan. 26 to have the virus, known provisionally as 2019-nCoV. On Jan. 24, however, a 33-year-old German businessman who had had meetings with the woman on Jan. 20 and 21, developed a sore throat, chills, and muscle soreness, with a fever and cough arriving the following day. He began to feel better and returned to work Jan. 27. After the woman was found to have the virus back in China, disease detectives went to work, getting in touch with people who had been in touch with the woman — including the German businessman, who by then had recovered and appeared healthy during an examination in Munich. Tests, however, showed he had the virus. On Jan. 28, three coworkers of the businessman tested positive for the virus. Only one of these patients had contact with the woman from Shanghai; the other two only had contact with the German man. All four patients in Germany were isolated in hospitals and have not shown any signs of severe illness.

Again, not what head of WHO said yesterday.
I gave you the link to his statement on it.

Sigh.
The point is, a lower percentage increase day over day, for an extended period of time, is better than an higher percentage increase day over day. Didn't think anyone would even try to argue that.

The WHO hasn’t looked at that case in detail as it just occurred. They only said they didn’t have enough info to know either way.
This paper came from the New England Journal of Medicine and just came out. Obviously it’s a very reputable medical journal.
