Over that broad of a timeframe I seriously doubt social distancing means jack shite.

1) I don't know ... but damn near most of our residents are already positive so idk what testing would help -- I contact them when I need to about residents for info that I can't get from the emr but I'm trying very hard to not bother them. Which is hard when I just want updates.
2) How the F can a facility say no?????? That's so much bullshite. I'm almost embarrassed to be an employee of a nursing home (I mean I'm contract but still) but I don't trust someone else to take care of them like I do for my area.
This is all bullshite. We have one who has verbalized numerous times that she doesn't want to live and is refusing to eat. We have one who has gone (it sounds like) psychotic and is just about to break. I'm very worried about our people.

As of now, in my region at least, state is more or less gauging interest of facilities. Those declining have positive cases and are worried about the inevitable staffing shortage per mandatory quarantine upon positive. I find it abhorrent that some facilities are knowingly withholding testing and knowledge of infection that could affect employees’ loves ones outside of work.

So I asked and ALL of our residents ended up being swabbed either early on or later due to symptoms BUT then ended up doing EVERY resident. ADON told me that they weren't required to but they wanted to know what they were dealing with. Some tested positive without symptoms and they were started on plaquenil and not all got zpac.
I asked about staff but she didn't answer and I'm not pushing my luck digging lol.
She said some homes aren't wanting to obviously because they're afraid of an increase in numbers. Ignorance is bliss???

ETA: Idea for JBE/Cuomo: Let's put TVs in everyone's living rooms that are connected to a central server that monitors the movements INSIDE a house. We, perhaps, can call this system Big Brother, because it will protect us from coronavirus!

I'm now pretty firmly in the camp that Vitamin D is playing a role in preventing infection. We really need to be getting people outdoors.

In the report -- from NYC hospitals currently collecting data on all new infections -- he was citing, it simply meant that 66% of new infections over the past few days were to people who have not been working, taking subways etc.
The new home infections are still mainly to older people.
It would seem be further confirmation of a couple things most have been thinking:
1. There's simply a ton of non-symptomatic carriers
2. It's extremely easy for these non-symptomatic carriers to infect older people they may live with, visit, deliver food to or just live in the same apartment building.
